k04 is not a straight bolt on at all

new manifold needed etc. Reason why alot of the Ibiza boys do the k03s conversion as it bolts straight on

just ordered a new set of k03s parts, as I am going k03 hyrbid

jonesey, yes thats from Backdraft MS, cost £820 all in (delivery & VAT), just for the turbo unit

supposedly with other stg3 mods i.e. FMIC, xorst etc it should be good for 280bhp+....yet to be proven so don't quote me on that

I think its a nice compromise between the k03s bolt on (although standard on my leon) and the BT kits as all you need to buy is the turbo and gaskets etc as it bolts straight on, without having the expense of changing manifolds etc

oh by the way, the k03 hybrid is called "k03 to k04" on the BD site....bit confusing, as actually its still a k03 but with the internals of K04, so technically its not a K04

when speaking to Mark at BD MS, they said they were going to re-word the description as its confusing, if you understand what I mean

should be "K03 to K03 Hybrid":)

I checked, double checked, and triple checked with Mark at BD MS, as that was what I thought Phil:D

I think I asked "so its a k03 with k04 internals which bolts onto my existing k03 manifold?" about ten times when I was on the phone to him...just to make sure:)

but yeah it definitely is a K03 Hybrid unit

thats a good question, and one I cannot answer...to a degree;)

I guess if you have Revo stg3, which has the SPS unit right? to map timing etc, then it should not be a problem, just a case of fiddling with the settings to get it right

although to be honest, if you are going that customised with a hybrid, a custom map would suit it better IMO, as speaking with members, you will get more from a custom map, in other words if you are going to spend £800 on a new hybrid turbo, you might as well go all the way and fork out the extra money on the custom map to suit

**EDIT** turbo should be arriving tomoz or wed so will take some pics at work and get them up for you
 
I reckon you could run it on stage 2 if you had a wideband and lemmiwinks. I've seen someone run a 2871 on stage 2 tweaked to take into account the fuelling.

The K03 to K04 internal is refered to as the K04-1 by some. We are approved distributors for Borg Warner and I would challenge you to getting a genuine part for less than £699 plus VAT brand new.

Our website descriptions on these are getting confusing and I will try and make it clearer this week.

A k03S isnt the same as a K04-1.

The K03S is the turbo that is fitted to the 180BHP Leon Cupra, Golf and TT 180.

The K04-1 is a completely different housing and uses the K04 internals.

The reason it is reffered to as a K03 to K04 upgrade is that it connects in the same way as the original K03 it is replacing.

It is all confusing and I take responsibility for not explaning it very well on the website. We are working on this.

If you have a Leon, Ibiza, Golf or TT with a 1.8T engine with a K03 turbo as standard you have 2 straight forward upgrade options.

Ko3S £399 plus VAT.

K03 to K04 upgrade (sometimes called K04-1 which is confusing) £699 plus VAT.

Both turbos are brand new and in stock available for next working day delivery.

The other turbo which is popular is our K04 hybrid. This is designed for use on the Leon Cupra R, S3, TT 225 which use the K04 as standard. This turbo has uprated internals. It is £695 plus VAT with a £200 plus VAT surcharge for an old K04 unit in usable condition.
