rpmleon any chance you can sign up to http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/ and input your figures? I'm finding it quite useful myself and good to compare to other FR owners. The site is a crappy translation but it works, may make a similar site myself when I got some time.

Sorry about the delay in responding "TMO". (Been a bit busy)

Had a quick look and to be honest I think I would prefer to await your site ;)

8th fill today (to the brim) .

178 miles - 29.66ltrs = an average of 27.28mpg

Same as last week really. Mainly short journeys to and from work with an above average number of "spirited" moments :funk:.

Running figures since start:

1539.6 miles - 257.56ltrs = an average of 27.17mpg (+0.01 from last week)

Onboard computer average for the car since being (accidently) reset on, or about, 20 Mar 08 = 27.6mpg (+0.6 from last week).

For anyone who may still be interested I am still going with this

9th, 10th and 11th fill on Normal unleaded:

386.9miles - 65.69ltrs = an average of 26.78mpg

Bit of a drop since my last report but............ Hot weather, music blasting and foot down does not help

Running figures since start:

1926.5miles - 323.25ltrs = an average of 27.09mpg

Onboard computer average for the car since being (accidently) reset on, or about, 20 Mar 08 = 27.7mpg.

Peeps............. I appreciate I do way less miles than the majority but I can only make returns on what "I" personally do. Just booked a holiday to Cornwall in August so that may prove interesting (if I can afford the petrol by then :cartman:)

have you done enough to compare 95/98 ron and draw any conclusions yet?

I drove from Central London to Luton airport, and back, last night and averaged 44MPG! Very impressed with it, especially as im used to seeing about 22MPG but I suppose thats the price to pay for living in London. I use 95 RON

On another note, I drove most of the journey on cruise control since there are 'Average Speed Cameras' right the way along the M1. I was always told that cruise control dented MPG but the SEAT system seems to have changed that!

Yo "Chrisboyle999",

Sorry about the delay is responding but had a few (ongoing) computer problems

Personally, I have decided to stick with the 95Ron. Especially with the recent changes in petrol prices. And, I will continue to submit "honest" results.

Having driven my first 5000 miles on nothing but "Super Unleaded" I am sure that true Petrol Heads would notice a differrence. Personally, I have not  All I know is that when I want to overtake the Sunday driver, the tractor or piss off the Chav the power is there :D

The manual says I can use it, so at the moment I am using it

I note the response from "Maximus2000uk". I hope (But doubt ) if I can achieve the same results on my trip to Cornwall in August

I will post the results !

My advice would be to stick it on Cruise control and leave it. Thankfully the journey to the airport was mainly traffic-free so I alternated between 50mph & 70mph. I didnt put my foot down hard once, but had the heating on.

Try it and see!

Yo Maximus,

Have you run the car on 95 Ron since you have owned it and, if so, can you quote your average mpg ?

Nice choice of car by the way :D

hi, thanks for the reply.

i will be returning to cheapo fuel in the near future. my (not so scientific) dabble with 'super fuels' has proved disappointing.
for the nearly 10% extra cost i do not get 10% extra performance, nor 10% better fuel ecomony, and while i cant see it i bet i dont get 10% less engine wear.

I tried 98RON once but because I live in Central London, it didnt really do much. As a result, I run the car on standard 95RON.

I have no way of telling my average MPG but id imagine its around 25MPG because I am rarely out of Central London.

Ah right. Yes, I can tell the MPG from that however, rpmleon asked me for my average MPG and I took it to mean from ownership. If it was simply a question about my average MPG, I have already answered that question.

Latest data :)

For anyone who may still be interested I am still going with this

12th to 18th fill on Normal unleaded:

780.4miles - 127.54ltrs = an average of 27.82mpg

Bit of a rise since my last report :)

Running figures since start:

2706.4miles - 450.79ltrs = an average of 27.29mpg

Onboard computer average for the car since being (accidently) reset on, or about, 20 Mar 08 = 28.1mpg.

My current consumption is here. This is without actively trying to get MPG up, and driving hard once in a while ;)

i'm still interested :).

from what i can see the differences in economy are negligable.
do you fancy a bit of calculator crunching and telling us how much youve saved while using 95 ron? i know it wont be massive on sub 3k miles, but it will be interesting non-the-less.
