Actually looking at graph it was only 185, but then the pre map dyno run showed 151 so either VAG undersell the power of the TDI or the dyno was... ahem... a little optimistic..
Either way its a 30bhp increase which matches the FR

hmmm,
little disapointing really....
My friend has a 1.9 Golf GT TDi PD150.... This thing maps up to 210! on a straight map... thats a 60hp increase and about 100lb torque!

Same with the 1.9 PD130's they map up to 180 / 190!!

Can not understand why the 2.0 PD140's dont map very well!!
I had always expected that i would be able to get about 190 / 200 from it!

Thoughts?

Just a thought. Have you considered a removeable / switchable map system? I bought a device from Chipped UK (Bromsgrove based) called ST3, and I plug it into the OBD port, switch maps as required and away we go. Gives me the option of standard map, economy, and fast road whenever I want to change.

Had a look at this and was able to get a price of £350 but whilst the economy curve would have been within DSG limits, their fast road map was +85Nm (to 405Nm !), well above the limit which I am comfortable taking the car to.

Though a remap is less flexible than the ST3, I think that it will be a better solution for me. The DSG has been making me drive quite steady and I hope a smoother curve will benefit further my mpg figure.

Mark, I'm fairly certain that they'll write you a map taking into account the DSG box limits. Give them a ring, speak to Jayson, and ask him the question. He's always very approachable and if he hasn't had anyone asking for a DSG map then he'll possibly like you to take yours in and he'll write one specifically with your car as a tester.

I had dropped an e-mail to them asking for maps for the DSG and got a quick reply with suggestion of +25hp and 50Nm on economy and +40hp and 85Nm on fast road with a note that DSG isn't a problem as the torque map is curved to yield a smoother change and sharper power delivery.
p-torque have advised a +35hp and 60Nm remap for the DSG which sits nicely between the middle of these.

Damn, will this invalidate my warranty? ;)

Did the deal with Mark, great guy. Still loving and looking after the car very well and the wife hasn't had any mishaps like the last. I'm sure I paid over the odds but fell in love with the bodykit, wheels and leather + had just had a deal gone sour on what I thought was a 170 at another garage so was fired up to get something sorted.

What are you doing at Willoughby's? Remind Mark that I'm still waiting on a luggage hook for the boot.
