Aye they did indeed. Seemed really interested too, had car back on ramp after to show me what was what etc.

It's the one on Canal Road just by the bridge.
You know, opposite the Volvo dealer.
Next door to Kahnz dealer.

Bloody cracking price! I will save about £200 if I buy my own ARB's and national tyres fits them :)

How long did it take them to do?

Think I dropped the car off about half 12, was ready about half 4, but I know for certain he had his dinner first...plus he'd never done a rear one before and obviously now he has.

Yeah been to pick it up today, £311 and some pence for full cambelt change excluding water pump.

Would that garage you mentioned be willing to fit my ARBs?

If so any idea how long it takes / costs?

Cheers

Crown garage just rung me back.

Incase you ever need to use them, they charge £37.60/hour inc VAT, and have quoted me 1.5hrs for front ARB and 30mins for rear ARB = £75.20 not including 4-wheel alignment, I havn't got a clue how much a wheel alignment is..

They are ringing me back with a cam belt labour charge too.

Goddammit! why is everything so much cheaper oop north??

I may consider driving up (probably use 60 quid in diesel) but still save 60 quid!

Doesn't the Leon Cupra TDi come with a water pump with metal impeller anyway? Anyway, if there's an option, I'll double check it with them.

I need to get the cambelt/tensioner kit plus water pump ordered this week.

Getting a mechanic friend to do the work. Is the dealer the best place to order the parts (thinking customer service here) or order from somewhere off the net?

Although the dealer mentioned that the 60k service included the cam belt change - I asked them to go and check - as the maintenance manual seemed a bit unclear. I thought it read that it was to be done at 80k. They soon called me back to confirm that 80k was indeed the recomended service interval. So saved myself a few quid for now (as long as it does not go bang!).

From my point of view, my car's now got 62K on the clock and I intend to keep it for at least another 3 years doing +-24K/year. I'd rather get it done now and at 120K, and then I know for sure.

Surprised my friend when I said about the water pump. Is is really recommended to change it during a cambelt service?

ive just got a quote for the cambelt change and it was £250 at the lesta dealer ship!!!! what a great deal and bargin!!!!
