key recoding`

my mum has got a mk4 golf gttdi and her key has lost its code for the central locking and immobilizer, can it be re programmed using vagcom or do i have to go to the stealers??

The immobiliser has failed or has the key just lost it's remote sync?

Can the key start the car at all? Resetting the remote sync is simple mate, if you have the drivers lock still in and 2 keys.

Failing that, anyone local to you proficient with vagcom will be able to sort you out no probs.

yes the she can still start the car just has to unlock on the drivers door with the key, put key in ignition and start before pressing the internal central locking button inside to open the other door.

Got both sets of keys still and plastic one

Right the process doesn't need vagcom with 2 keys. This is from memory, which I am 90% sure is correct.

Put 1 key in ignition and turn to the position where battery light etc light up. Lower drivers window (Safer). Close the drivers door again- window open and key in ignition. Put the second key in the drivers lock. Turn it open/closed constantly whilst pressing the remote open/close buttons alternately. The car should chirp IIRC when done. Open door and put window up again. Test the remote function works. Smile smugly knowing you saved £££

tried the above earlier and no joy, had no chirp of alarm, tried several time, either the battery was flat or the actual fob is caput.

worth trying tho thanks for your help

off to the stealers to get new fob and pairing

booked in to the stealers for tuesday, as i have ordered a new fob and then they'll recode that one and the other spare one they've got.
