Timing Belt

Is time now to change the timing belt on my LCR do you know how much it will cost me if done on a main dealer??

If I dont do it at main dealer but at a private garage there is any brand that you recomend for the belts??

Hi Mate. I'm guessing it will be a silly amount at the dealer.

Kits I know you can pick up quite cheap on the net, have a browse - but my VW mechanic friend told me that apparently if you get the genuine kit from the dealer, although around £100 ish (he hasnt confirmed so may be cheaper), you still get the parts warranty which is better than a cheapy one cos obviously you don't want your new belt to snap. Get these parts then you can get a local garage to fit for a much much reduced labour price

Also, while you're at it, get the water pump done too, and put a metal impeller version on as the plastic ones are susceptible to failure.

definitely change the water pump at the same time. i have been dealer quoted between 360 and 500 for a change. whats your mileage and age?

bit of a mission from where you are but JKM just your side of portsmouth will do it with vag parts for a tad over 300 and they come well recomended.

Fair play cambelt change is expensive lark. My mate quoted me £100 labour and around £100 parts... a good price really, and I'd rather the £100 quid beer money go into his pocket to be honest

Look at the kit that awsome gti do. It has everything in it from the water pump to oil seals. All in for about 200 quid
