Follow this guide if you need to replace (or check) the belt tensioner (and serpentine belt), on your EA888 Gen3 2.0 TFSI/TSI engine.

The INA tensioner broke partially when I released the tension form the belt. Therefore I would recommend another brand, like the SKF unit I bought later.

I'm just thinking out loud here, but how do you "wind back" the SKF version of that tensioner - as I can't see any thing on its body that is there specifically for applying a spanner etc to?

Edit:- or do you just use the pulley retaining bolt to rotate that part of the tensioner - possibly what some other tensioners that get used use to rotate the tensioner.

Correct, you use the bolt of the pulley, just like the OE tensioner. The INA has a separate captive nut on the tensioner housing. I used the torx bolt of the pulley to release the tension on the INA tensioner

It looks like the INA version would have been more robust "in this area" if they had left out the provision for using a Torx bit to rotate the tensioner - nice and convenient idea, but not fully tested to see if it did work!

Exactly, I had those thoughts as well. It broke when I tried the torx part of the captive nut and then it just snapped on me
