Has anyone with a 2.0 tdi FR Leon experienced this, turn off the ignition and take the key out but the engine keeps running!!

Heard of this happening on old diesels, and he end result is the engine self destructing lol.
Stall it by dropping in 5th?
As suggested, stall engine but pump is still buzzing so disconected the battery, reconected battery now car gone into safe mode!

Have got an FR and never had that happen in the 13k that i have done in it, as said old diesels yes used happen a lot especially old 205's Pugs
this is a very old problem (with any type of car) but not often encountered these days because of the technology used in car electrical systems.

I used to have an old 309 years ago that did this! Always had to stall it to turn it off!
My old 205 did this, and I stalled it for 5 months. MOT time came so I thought I'd better fix it. £8 cutoff solenoid did the trick and I wished I'd done it months before

When she came home the other night she said she took the key out of the ignition and went to get out of the car and realised it was still running!
So she put the key back in and tried to turn it off but it took a few attempts.
I went straight out and tried to replicate it, with no success and not had the problem since so I told her she was cuckoo

That is how my problems first started, and I told the wife she was imagining things but it happened to me and then it got worse and worse until the FR was going into Safe Mode. As you see it went into the dealer where they found a faulty fuel pump regulator but if yours is a petrol it could be an ignition problem.
Water in the fuel filter will cause running on in Diesels too, as will oil getting into the fuel system (such as a turbo with leaking oil seals), so go check your oil level quick!
It will certainly show up on a diagnostic scan but I would also guess that there would be an engine warning light if the fuel filter needs draining.
