What's with the Skoda gipping?

We don't sit on the Briskoda site slaggin off all things SEAT, or anything in the VAG group for that matter.

Theyre the same bloody cars underneath with the same soggy suspension bushes, good engines and solid build.

To me, this reflects the more immature nature of the SEAT fraternity...

I liked my VRS I just preferred the look of the FR. Mind you I really liked the limited edition VRS in racing blue with the leather seats :)

i used to be a mechanic for skoda dont get me wrong there good cars and the same cars as the seat pretty much. dont take it to heart :banghead2. we all have our own opinions and mine is the seat shell is a much nicer one than the skoda. thats my opinion wether you like it or not.
theres a bad thing to be said about every car on the road wether its seat skoda audi or volkswagon especially if you have worked on them.

Look folks I didn't start this thread to have a slanging match over which badge is best. I'm not that bothered by the badge on the front of any car... everyone has an opinion but sometimes they should keep it to themselves if it is going to cause an argument.

I test drove a lovely black Fabia Vrs (06 reg, 45k miles) this morning and I am thinking of selling my Ibiza FR 20VT to pay for it! The dealer said I would only get about £4k for mine  so I was wondering about selling it privately or through this forum.

Just a few questions for you folks:

1. Should I sell the FR and buy a Fabia Vrs? The Vrs was sweet and very pacey, the biggest selling point being the far superior MPG of the Fabia over the FR. (I did 19,000 miles in one year in the FR!) Slightly softer suspension too!

2. What would my FR be worth through a private sale?
Spec list: 55 plate Ibiza FR 20VT, 42k miles, full SEAT service history.
Mods: Leon Cupra "starfish" 17" alloys, HIDs, Forge 007 recirc valve, LCR splitter, Green cotton filter, modded airbox, Seat Sport strut brace, badgeless grill, Polo rear wiper, aero front wipers.

With the offer from the dealer and the value of the Vrs, I would have to stump up £2k. I thought I would get more if I sell it privately and make that difference smaller! What are your thoughts folks?

I think whats the point? You arent gaining anything what so ever apart from the novelty of a new car although its 99% identicale to the one you have. And the money you save on fuel wont make it any better as you will have lost more money doing the deal.

Pointless really.

You have a good point and I realised this thinking about it today. My mileage might be reduced if I change jobs anyway. Might have to persuade the wife to get a new car though ;)

there is nothing wrong with skoda its just a bit of banter

seeing as this is a seat forum most of us would be biased towards getting the seat and to be honest if most of us had the money we all would of got something else?? i know i would however i didnt and i love my Seat so please calm down and let Gooner mike make up his mind Well Hers in his case :D

I have one of each - a 54 plate Octavia vRS and a 56 plate Ibiza Sport. The Skoda is definitely less refined and more aggressive (possibly something to do with my "mods") but both are excellent and fun to drive - I don't mind which one the wife lets me take to work!!

:) Same here.I like the VRS,but it's the only one i'd buy.
Only 1000 made, leather, cruise, autochanger.Even has it's individual number embroidered on the seats.
Future classic?.Reminds me of the last of the MK1 Golf GTI's,the Campaign model, with the Pirelli alloys etc.

i would say get a tdi FR instead of the vrs. ive changed my car from a vrs to an FR and i think its miles better, seems less lumbering to me! and still the same MPG and performance. thats my tupence anyway
