Hi all, I'm trying to wire an amp to power a sub in the boot and I can't find anywhere in the bulkhead to feed a power cable without removing the dash.

Am I being daft?

And also where would you reccomend I trail the cable i.e. route of least resistance.

Oh and pictures would be biblically helpful!

Hi Flapper.

If you're reffering to the one tucked up in the top corner nearest the centre console then I've tried buddy but there are too many cables being fed through to squeeze another width ways.

And Halfrauds want £70 effin quid (before the atttacks come, I thought they'd be easy and cheap).

it is easy bud pull carpet down passenger side and then look in engine bay and u will see a grommet bud

wired my ibiza (which i rekon should be the same) a few weeks back, theres a hole just under the passenger glove box or airbag depending on what model you have, its plugged with a rubber bung jus push it out with a screw driver but be careful i pushed mine out and i never saw it again lol

Thought about it until I saw the state of my cold air intake. I'd need reinforced cabling with a million earth points. Sure gravel and general road crap would leave you with a big floppy live flying around all over the place?

google vechicle wiring products dot eu( it wont let me post the url)!!I've used this crowd before when rebuilding the landrover, or this there a way to feed it through with the clutch cable or throttle cable?? could you feed a cable to the fuse box??

Hi guy's i work at halfords in canterbury its £39.99 to fit a sub/amp combo but heres alittle help lift the right hand side scuttle panel up and u should see the pollen filter unclip this and the casing unscrews and u shall see the big round rubber gromit remove this and cut a cross in it then push ur wire thru and look in the passenger foot well

(DO-NOT RUN A UNPROTECTED CABLE UNDER THE CAR !!)

Got her all wired in and all, question though the power from the battery is confusing the hell out of me. If i put the feed cable to live there is no power through it, same with neutral however if I touch the live and THEN touch the neutral the amp powers up for a second and then dies.

ok so u have run the power lead from the battery and conected it onto the 12v connection of the amp hopefully u have also found a good earth in the boot and connected that to the neg -12v of the amp and run a remote wire from the headunit to the rem connection on the amp

power lead from battery to +12v amp
earth cable from chassis to neg (-12v) amp
headunit remote to REM on amp

ah the REM is the signal wire to tell the amp on and off

whot car u running it into then high level input isn't the best way

hey fella u need to run this from ur headunit normally a blue amp/power aerial wire thats whot control's the amp switching on and off im guessing u got a aftermarket headunit

Yeah it's a sony but with no sub out whatsoever so I now think maybe the amp goes into standy if not connected to the sub?

hum u should have a blue/white striped wire coming outta the block at the rear of the head unit ur need a headunit wiv pre-out's to run the signal down the RCA wires to the amp

In the back, your remote wire should be orange and blue, blue or blue and white. (Normally blue)
you'll have to cut and strip the current REM, and use a connector to connect them.
"Blue" wire from head unit into one side of connector.
Other end of "Blue" wire you cut, and the new amp REM wire into the other side.

All stripped and twisted, you may want to strip the head unit side single wire further back, so you can fold the wires back on themselves and twist to make it thicker. And twist the other 2 together to make it thicker, making it easier for the connector to grip onto them (use pliers and tape)

Cool, and thanks, thing is though I have connected the blue cable to the REM input on the amp and still nowt.

I've replaced each of the cables with very cool looking zero oxygen jobbies from Maplin,

I'm thinking maybe the amp's cooked, but it worked perfectly when removed and has been looked after and properly dry stored since.
