I recently had a problem with my leon doors letting in water.
I'm getting this sorted on Monday and am thinking of changing
the carpet as there is a horrable musty smell and think this may be
the best way to dry it out?

Where could I pick one up and how much ?

Thanks

I had this problem with mine , after fixing the leak which was the drivers door seal i had the carpets cleaned but a few days later the smell came back and got worse

I pulled the carpet back and and the soundproofing stunk ,it was dry but the smell was intoxicating :ill: removing the underlay was my only option so i removed the hole interior which was extreme but easy if you take your time , sourcing new underlay for a leon was a problem for me as none of my local breakers had any leons in so after a little research i got the underlay from a mk4 golf which is the same as a leon ,it fitted a treat (identical) after refitting it and a good carpet shampoo when it was out the problem was solved;)

Thanks for that!
And did the soundproffing just come out?
was it clipped in or ?

Could you buy new ones of those?
How long did it take you ?

^ no problem
The underlay can be removed once all the interior trims and carpet are out it comes in two sections front and back, the only snag i had was at the front under the climate control there is a metal bracket which needs to be removed,

the carpet underlay is avail i think it was around £100 from the dealers maybe more breakers are your best bet i took mine out at the breakers myself to give me an idea of how they come apart plus i kept all the clips and screws off the golf incase i break some of mine

i only paid £20 for the lot inc the carpet , oh if you do it disconnect your battery because the airbag light will come on once the seats are out;)

time for the job 4 hours with tea breaks...........
