hi new boy here. Hi ive got a 07 ibiza fr 130 tdi which ive had for a couple of months its done about 2000 miles now. I know its a diesel, but it pumps out a lot of black smoke is this normall ? thanks

No, it's not normal.

A little puff of grey smoke when flooring the throttle after a few miles of gentle driving can be considered normal (most visible at night in the headlights of the car behind), but "a lot of black smoke" is definitely not normal.

A boost leak seems a likely explanation, or possibly a faulty MAP sensor. Take it back to the dealer and get them to investigate it.

cheers

[:@]I thought there must have been a fault. but only just switched from petrol was'nt sure,Irl let them look at it this week,

black smoke = unburnt fuel?

unburnt fuel = bad air/fuel mixture?

so this could be 1 of two things to much fuel or to much air so check air intake and then check fuel system? or I'm not mechanic and have no idea but its where I would start

thanks,do you mean the fuel filter, air flow sounds fine etc,if it was mixture surely it would have poor mpg, thanks

does it do it on boost and off boost? u say 2000 miles is this total for the car??? its 2 years old n has only done 2k?

as long as its not loads and loads then its fine. ive noticed that vag diesels seem to produce more than most types in my experience (new breed of vags excluded).
