Just got a new arm rest and searched all threads I could find - but could not find the answer to this.

If you follow the instructions you mark the holes on the centre console, remove the armrest and drill holes. Then attach self adhesive pad (thingy) hopefully line everything back up and screw in the screws. :(

Is this how everyone has fixed their's ?

Just looking at it, I thought you could just attached self adhesive pad (thingy) and just use the screws as they are self tappers ?

Or will this not work? Any comments please

You drill the holes in the console and then use the screws to screw the armrest in place. The self adhesive pad (which should be in the shape of the inner armrest) should then go over the tops of the screws on the inside of the armrest.

Thanks for that - with it a bit more now.

The adhesive pad is just a trim to hide the screws when installed.

Does the unit line it's self up ? or is there a trick to getting and holes in the right place ?

Scared to death of drilling the car in the wrong place !!

Yep the adhesive pad is just used to hide the screws when in place.
Its pretty easy to line up. Once you have it just right, just use a white pen or tipex to mark the holes and then drill the holes and then attach the armrest on.

where can I buy the armrest from, is it cheap enough from Seat?

Seremotors on here sells them as cheap as anywhere. The armrest fits snug over the centre console then just pilot drill after marking the holes, screw in place and fit the felty rubber type cover in place, carefull with this piece as its a little tricky.

You don't actually need to screw it in at all. I used number plate sticky pads and its as tight as anything, doesn't move at all. That way, if you ever decide to remove it, or want to sell it separately then it can be removed with zero damage.

I did the same (on your previous advice I think :) ) and it works a treat, 3 number plate sticky pads hold it down really well, I did this as I was not sure if I would like it or not and so could remove it without damage, for the 1st few weeks it was going to come out but I eventually got use to it now I wouldnt be without it.

Hi btw this is my my 1st post, been a voyeur for the past few months since I got my car, just wanted to thank Rael and to recommend his idea (if it was him I read do it previously).
