Personally I wouldn't want 19" wheels as the ride and handling will be worse, so I don't know what the £2k, over the Cupra, is buying you apart from a remap?

having just moved to 19's I will agree with that on both counts, but doesn't help that I run OEM spring/dampers

wow, i disagree with both of ye, sorry, i have just fitted a set of genuine BBS CH 014, 19" x 8.5J and put on BF goodrich G-force profiler 2, 235/35/19. I know I have other handling mods installed, but the extra inch on each of these tires has really improved the handling(grip) of my LCR, also the ride quality isn't to bad and I'm in Ireland where the roads are dire in place.

P.S i thought the new Cupra R would have grow on me since my last post, it hasn't, i am still bitterly disappoint, more than likely heading to the VW club for my next motor, well done SEAT!!!

It's well known amoung race car engineers that large wheels with super low profile tyres are for looks rather than performance. Going less than about 35% profile and the handling will suffer...

Looks are definitely a part me for sure but i am just sharing my experience. No more traction control light in the wet for me since they are on :) .But now you mention it, what are all the RS4, DB9's, Lambo's, ferrari's doing with them then?

I think they're all around 35% tyre profile so about as low as they can get away with. These kind of cars will never have small wheels though as they're not good for the looks as you say. It is usually said that a tyre profile of between 55% and 35% is the optimum in terms of handling depending on the car.

Has the UK price been release yet for this? Been trying to search for it and keep hitting the Press release with the same info.

Price?
Any changes other than press release? *hopes*

Since fitting I've noticed an increase in tram lining under braking, a harshness to the ride which has not only increased the discomfort on the road but also increases the inducement of ABS kick in under extreme driving, and the sensation of where the limit of the grip from the tyres gives up is harder to judge.

Every time you increase wheel diameter, unless you are buying state of the art rims you are increasing the weight of the vehicle (and in this case the revolving mass). Whilst there will be some marginal grip improvement by having a wider tyre, there is less natural 'give' in the tyre wall to enable you to feel the break away points. The extra weight of the rim makes for a more clattery/crashy ride. I made the change to 19's knowing the limitations, but the S3 arches look too big for 18's. I'm glad your set up seems to be more favourable than the S3 one though.

It's no accident that Evo's and Integra's run much smaller diameter alloys. Handling over outright looks.

You wait till you get into the colder winter months and the same weight is spread over a larger surface area - you're going to be going nowhere fast at best. At worst, you'll have shopping hatchbacks running proverbial rings around you.

i heave heard (from what i have learned to be quite a reliable source) that it will be early next year and a fiver short of £21k.

a 23% in crease in price over the first LCR end of 2002 seems reasonable I guess, considering a 26% gain in power.

If only all our annual inflationary wage increases went up in line with the rate that new car prices seem to be rising it wouldn't be so bad. I think all small/mid size performance cars are starting to look a tad overpriced of late. £20k for a Corsa VXR I suppose makes the Mk2 LCR seem reasonable, but how long till these cars exceed £25k with a full pack of options.
£32k for the Audi is starting to look decidedly reasonable.

ok so its got front disc brakes the same size as the alloys on my fr and different alloys oh an a R bagde, but if every 1s honest i woz expecting sumthing that looks well aggresive an to look at its PANTS!!!!! dont think the colour does it any justice at all. the interior looks awesome i must say. but seat has been real lazy when its come to the exterior

i cant remember if i expressed my feelings before, but judging on the mk1 LCR differences over the mk1 LC, id have expected brembos as standard, a bigger power hike and a more aggressive road presence amongst other things that have escaped my mind at this point than the mk2 cupra...

Another disappointment from the facelift leon range. Had a twinge of doubt when I heard the news, now I am relieved to have left the fold.

It might be possible that yet again SEAT PR have messed up in the press release, like they did with the bigger brakes claims which is only true for the rears, in that the new uprated fuel pump doesnt actually perform any better than the pump already in our std cupras.

Jaysus!! Thats a long way away for a car with just an R badge

agreed, if you want a fast leon now you might aswell just get a std cupra, they both tune up into the same car. The only worthwhile difference the R allegedly has is a uprated fuel pump. But they will only be around 150 notes roughly from stealers.
