Hopefully more details will be leaked about the R - but by the sound of this thread it wont be as common as the mk1 LCR

if its priced right i dont think well see any more cupra's.

but then again i doubt itll be priced right as theres always a unjustifiable premium for the 'range topper'.

like i posted earlier. ive heard a fiver short of 21k. i reckon thats about 2.5k over what you can get a cupra for, and thats before any options.
10+% premium for a slightly better car.....hmmm.

TBH i have seen a few Focus RS around and its eye candy compared to the Cupra R , not sure on how they drive but on looks the Cupra R loses big time , even the new Megane coupe looks the tits compared to the R and i hate french cars

I agree with that Rob, if i was being tempted back into a hot hatch, it would either be a Mk1 LCR or the new Focus - the Mk2 still just doesn't do it for me.

It'd need to be something more than the 'other' models
eg:
Megane R26R - roll cage, plastic bonnet & windows, semi slicks
Focus RS - Wide arches, 300bhp, aero package
Mazda 3 MPS - 4WD, lots of power etc

Cupra R - much the same as the one below it.

I'm not saying that it needs 4WD, wide arches or semi slicks.... but something would be good

I was really hoping for just something a little bit more inventive than a few badges and a stripe of leather. With the Golf R on the way you'd think there would have been a little more room to be adventurous as there is more breathing space for SEAT to flex within before it treads on the Golfs toes. A real wasted opportunity to create some headlines, but maybe there just isn't that much in the VAG parts bin to shout about right now. It's not like the S3 is any tricker or a donor for funky parts as it's the same under the skin.

Maybe they heard on the forums that the K1 was marmite so they went back to discrete!

Masive MASSIVE disappointment. I thought VW wanted Seat to be it's sportier arm? Not with this it isn't!! Don't like the facelift model and I think the Cupra R it totally pointless. It should have a body shape that sets it apart from the rest of the range. I'm not so bothered about increased engine power, cos when would you ever get to use it these days? A range topping hot hatch should turn heads with sporty looks. I'm afraid the Cupra R just won't do this. The current FR and Cupra looks vastly superior IMO

When the time to change comes for me, it'll be "Bye Bye Seat"

but remember the Seat is going to cost a good few grand less than the Scirocco R and Golf R (but has the same power as the Roc R)

I was considering the Roc but I'm thinking get the same power car for a lot less money and get some nice mods on it and bring it in line with the power of the Golf and get a good trade in with my current car

I think I'd have left the power at 240bhp, offering a decent power hike at a cost option

Along with a 'Chassis pack' much like Renault do with their Cup Chassis.. Maybe an exhaust too.

All are high margin, dealer fit parts.

And something different on the bumpers.... hell, I'd even have suggested some bocanegra blacking up

I was kicking off at a guy from Audi UK about why VAG group are so slow to offer the upgrade pack options when nearly all other manufacturers are offering something.

His answer: We've looked into it and there is not enough margin.

At this point I gave up the will to be polite and said that the £3-5k I spend per car on aftermarket mods would hold no value to Audi then rather than me having to source parts from all over the shop.

His answer: Well your PROBABLY (obviously well researched then) in the minority.

I replied that most of the cars at ADI were probably modified in at least one way, if not more to which he didn't have an answer.

Arrogant, out of touch, ignorant and totally lacking in ANY customer empathy. If they are that f@@@ing stupid and naive at Audi it is no wonder SEAT are struggling. Two words for the chief honcho's in my book, neither of them are polite enough to type.

Most retail products have a good margin applied (obviously VAT has to come out etc) but I'd expect that something that retailed at £100 would wholesale at £55 (max)

I bet they make better markup on their mats, or mudflaps, but this isn't stuff that people don't buy because they can't get them from the dealer - this is stuff they do buy regardless.

If you could get the mods all wrapped into the finance pack, with the warranty intake & more importantly a service department that didn't have apoplexy when they look at the car they would be on a winner.

That's part of the attraction of Vauxhall and Thorney Motorsport - it's not as if SEAT even need to change cities to spot a good example
