I think people are getting a bit paranoid about things.

SEAT have the potential to do what ever they want regards to warranty claims , but i dont honestly think they are big brother and watching every move and post here on the forums across all the models and all the posts? how many posts a day are there?

The other thing is if Robs car turns out to have a fault which is not related to his mods then imho he has the right to claim back from SEAT the costs of having it put right.

SEAT should have said they would investigate his problem but if the fault is found to have been related to his mods then he will be liable for the checking and testing of parts , but should not have just turned him away.

Where actually on the warranty does it say that mods will invalidate a claim? must have a look when i get home.

i completly agree with this post.
for seat to go searching through forums to find the info there after is just rubbish they have bigger problems than that.
i think this forum is great but im sure there are other seat forums out there  so it would take them quite a while to find exackly what there looking for.
its the same when people say the police scan these forums what a load of :censored: that is. rant over.

had any luck with getting the car to awesome?

You would be surprised at how closely some companies follow discussion forums on the internet.

Its not paranoia or false. Its actually true because I've been stood inside SEAT UK's customer service department in Milton Keynes when they were doing it. :) I know that I didn't imagine it.

However they won't just sit on the forums looking for people to to blacklist, but if an expensive claim drops in their lap they do tend to look around the forum just on the off-chance there are other circumstances they may not be aware of such as remaps, and other modifications.

But if you'd read the rest of the thread you'd probably of realised that already. ;)

You'll find it happens not just with SEAT but other manufacturers too.

that was kinda aimed at all the doubters. but yeah whopefully a jubilee clip, not likely though lol.

Don't think £80 was too bad in the scale of thing's Rob.

Hope Awesome sort it sooner rather than later mate. Think your in safe hand's there,

So do you think they have clocked all our user names, sig details, poss mods and matched them with reg #'s added them to a database so they can instantly decline any claim?

What can I say.... nobody is anonymous on the internet (as I've often proven)

Even the SEAT UK employee's who are registered on here

Really interesting discussion going on here.

I think the wider picture is that SEAT/the VAG group is not doing enough to protect their existing customer/fanbase and attract new customers. From the face of things, my peers on here and people I know at work/socially they definitely arn't.

SEAT haven't done themselves any favours this generation in my opinion. You have loyal SEAT fans who have moved on because SEAT havent offered them a worthy replacement car, performance upgrades, reasonable warranty, dealership service...What is really ashame is when the same things are happening in the SEATs bigger brothers and sisters i.e. what Warren said. So whats the next logical step for us...Ford? Subaru? Mazda? Nissan? BMW? Its looking that way isnt it.

In terms of the warranty claim - what do the manufacturers of these parts think? For example if Garret say the GT23432525 is capable of 1.5Bar and SEAT tune the turbo to 1.2 bar. The customer gets a remap to 1.5Bar it blows up...this surely should not invalidate the warranty?

To me its pretty clear in the warrenty documentation.

me too.

quote;
'we hope that it is understood that natural wear as well as damage caused by the abuse of vehicle performance through inappropriate use or by unacceptable modifications are excluded by from the warranty. the warrenty is also invalid when the vehicle is damaged by the use of parts and accessories that are not seat approved...'

now you could argue all day about wether the mods are 'inappropriate' or 'unacceptable', but i would put my mortgage on seat winning in the long run (by that i mean not coughing up).

Thanks for clearing that up.

:headhurt: yep its the turbo, awesome say theres a couple of propellers bent so new turbo it is £650+vat which isnt too bad.

The turbo hasnt actually gone yet but its about too but hopefully hasnt damaged anything else, full reapair cost is £1300 but possibly an extra £250 if things need cleaning out and fitting of s3 core and catch can and cam lobe check.

Thought i might aswell get the S3 ic and catch can fitted while it was there lol.

The biggest surprise is the Dealer was actually right if a little overpriced with there £1600 repair cost plus £250 to fit the S3 ic, so saved a couple of £££.

Oh and its come just at the right time with insurance at a grand and £210 road tax all due at the end of the month.

Most likely something got sucked into turbo or what happened? What kind of a intake system you have?

Oh man. Not much then :(
So what would have been the cause for propellers to be bent?

They'll have a better idea when the turbos off but at the moment they think its just a week piont in the turbo and isnt something thats gone through the intake but will look for debris when the turbos off.

Well gutted.

Talking to my turbo contact he reckons the majority of petrol turbo failures are due to a heavy right foot, and not just on modded engines. But what to do? Not mod it? Not use it? That's why we're all here isn't it? Maybe just cosset the turbo/engine ie let the lump warm up properly and let it idle or cool with a couple of normal miles driving............... Sorry to hear it mate

Just a quick question, would you run stock settings while the new turbo is run in properly, and would you do a track day on the 20th of November and an rr day with less than 1k miles on it?

How long would a new turbo take to run in?
