My average MPG seems to be around 26MPG at the moment from my bog std LC.

It mainly gets used by the Mrs for short school and shop runs in and around the village in the week. Then I (Mr Club foot) drive it of the weekend.

I been thinking about swapping to tesco super as i use 95 at the moment. You think it'll make much difference to the MPG?

70mph i get about 37 average. if its below 60 i get about 40-45mpg.

stage one remapped I get roughly the same but way lower if im pushing it :)

always ran 97-99ron feul through its entire life. 26 sounds a bit low, check out your tyre pressures and perhaps run a tank of super with a cleaning addative. then look at such things that cost money to check as wheel alignment spark plugs, coil packs. im sure other people have better ideas how to look for improvements

how long is a piece of string?

given that its used for short journeys id say that the MPG you are getting is good, - especially as some get less than that on longer jorneys..

Better fuel will IMO make a very very small, difference but hardly noticable.

i am doing a round trip to work of about 70 miles per day but only all motorway drive and have seen 40 miles per gallon on my trip computer sometimes more .....even on normal short trips and giving the car a good blast thru the gears V-power and high octane fuels i see as giving off better fuel consumption.....
Have used 95 ron but get less out of it so using the V-power i get more miles to the gallon even when cruising and normal driving .... will always recommend using the better V-power.... in the long run its better for the engine and what i can see wont cost u any more overall ...........

Tyre pressures were all ok a couple of weeks back. It was serviced in July but it didn’t have plugs they were done last year. Don’t know about wheel alignments but it isn't eating tyres so I would have thought it couldn't be too far out.

Like andycupra said it probably just the fact that 90% of its journeys are less than 5 miles.

Might just run a couple of tanks of V-power through it and see if it makes enough difference to warrant the extra 7p a litre

Found this after a bit of googing FUEL TEST

Might give the tesco stuff a go as it costs less

I would always recommend the higher octane stuff, especially if mapped.

Mine has always been run on V-Power from new and I think it contributes to the engine being in great condition after 73k miles.

I was going to try tesco 99 the other week but didn't bother as it was 4p a litre more than my local shell!!! ....and I get points with shell

Think i'll try the tesco99 as its a penny less than the shell by me. Also i can get the 5p off vouchers with my shopping if i start using tesco again

definitely worth it...Tesco99 and V-power are the two 'best' fuels for these cars by common opinion so might as well see how you get on...don't expect it to be different straight away, ECU needs a couple of tanks to fully adapt

..nice looking car by the way!:cartman:

i get never got above 39mpg since having it remapped :D soo hard not to blip the accelerator, used to get ~44mpg goin to work. lowest ive had it down to 19 average which involved town driving and sprited driving. still impressed with the economy with the power available. started using tesco super a few fill ups ago and i want be going back to normal now. i think 26 is about right for town driving and "club foot driving"
