What sort of mileage would put you off?

Vag may drop a few bollocks now and again but engines (especially the pd) are there speciality. I've seen alot of high mileage cars through work (skoda octavia tdis with 250k+, cordoba varios with 250k+, leon and toledo 20vts with 150k+) in fact our works vans have half a million miles on the clocks between them. As long as they've been looked after and have a decent history then they'll be fine. My leon that i have at the moment (1.9tdi pd) has 108k on it but it still runs and starts like new.

Cant really afford more than £2K for the car. So would 130K on a red 1.6SE put you off if you were me?

I mention "RED" due to fading. Oh and its a 2000 (W reg)

I reckon you can do better than that, mate. I got my 1.6S Leon, 2002/52 plate, with 75k on the clock, off eBay last September for £1700

that a question aimed at me? if so... Im 18 i havent been driving 1 year yet so no "No-Claims Bonus" for a car. the Cupra might be cheaper but the insurence is £7-8K a year for me! as much as i want a cupra R 225bhp its prob too much power for me at the moment if i get a 1.6 then they are quick enough of the mark to get in and out of roundabouts quick enough but theres as limit on the power compared to a cupra that would mean i could learn to become a GOOD driver before getting in a fast car, what is the point in having a fast car if you dont know how to give it the boot properly? Cupra will be on the drive some day.

what colour? and yours in an S mate, im looking for an SE I should be getting money for car this/next week. Iv seen some good cars come up before but go before I could afford them. you did get a good deal there though mate. Hopefully something will come up. but you know how it goes they never come up until youve bought one.

Thats alright mate. really? I am someone who would go with £1500 and not leave with the car for more than that even if the price is £1800. So how much do you think I should try get it for to make it worth it? Im not affraid to try my luck.

That's the thing buddy don't let the money burn a hole in your pocket and rush into buying a car, if you are patient then you'll be rewarded. I looked for over 7 months and missed a few but ended up with a great car that had been lovingly looked after.

haha Iv been looking at leons for over a year, and only about to get money next week through student loans (if they dont get messed up) so you can prob unstand how eger i am, but ye I definately get what your saying.

100k scares me, my 01 LC is at a little over 96k now. I expect its value to drop a good chunk in a few k.

People are saying 100k is nothing and the engines should go on far longer than that. Which might be true, but I don't drive an engine I drive a complete car ;-)

...I want a black one sooooo bad, but with my costs in mind, I think Im guna have to slum it if i cant find one. There was one but it went off autotrader the other day - i was gutted! should have taken the person number down (second time thats happened)

anyway yeah so the plan: get a colour that isnt black that i still dont mind (second choice: RED) ith higher mileage for a lower price and probally older, then get a newer 02 or 03 plate + in red with low milage in September 2010 time/ish when my second year student grant starts (unless i make a mint before then) and aslong as a god car comes up. then sell the red one to put money to the black one. :-D

...Quite a plan ey!

Im exactly the same but I have to take what people say about 100K+ being absoulety fine as gossple so i feel better - i have to with my budget!

Living at home, touch! makes it cheaper, bikes are great but cold and wet for 6 months of the year and girls don't like that, plus the helmets ruin their hair.
