It looks like Seat has bumped Cupra's price by 500 pounds from 1st of June.Curiously the FR's price is the same as before and it is now 1500 pounds cheaper.

The forthcoming A1 will be very expensive indeed;the S-line 1.4 TFSI(122) will cost more than 18k and that's before any extras such as leather,sat-nav,climatronic,cruise control, etc.,so imagine its price fully loaded! And apparently the S1 will cost 28-29 000 euros in Europe and maybe 25 000 pounds in UK:blink:

For this premium you will get nicer interior with aluminium trim(not standard on all A1s though),better switchgear and more toys in the options list,as well as stop-start and brake regen as standard features on all A1s.

I guess that Audi hopes that Mini's ubiquity in the premium B segment will attract many potentional buyers of the A1,despite its steep pricing, its common underpinnings and its shared(with the Ibiza and the Polo) structure and tech.

TBH i like the look of the A1 but there is no way, and I mean NO WAY, that I will ever pay that much and then still be down on power. While the A1 looks nice it doesn't blow me away in the looks department the way the BOC did when they launched it. Sorry Audi, I think you were just a little too ambitious with this one.....................

wow an S1 costing the same as a golf gti... thats madness.... I saw the A1 concept at goodwood last year & it does look real good - but I agree with the above can't justify that sort of price tag...

Actually the S1 will cost 25k,so it will be more expensive than the Golf GTI:blink:

For 25k it better has the rumoured AWD and ECU-released 200+ BHP!

i read that VW will be using new 1.6TFSI engine which will have 210bhp for the polo R, i guess audi might use the same engine for the S1 or maybe even RS1 ooooo exciting!

VW deny the Polo R's possibility,a 1.6 TFSI engine is just a rumour and the S1 will be out in 2011 with the 1.4 engine. In any case the seven-speeder DSG will prevent more than 200 BHP and AWD is also appearing unlikely.

But for 25k i would expect more than the Cupra's running gear!

The S1 makes even the JCW look like a bargain, especially as the possibility of AWD is very slim:no space for rear-diff,prop-shaft and multi-link.

Even the Audi badge and bling doesn't make sense as their own TT starts from 26k and that's at least two classes above the PQ25 platform!

Has anyone else noticed how completely wrong Audi have got the styling of the A1? it's ugly as hell and completely lacking in that distinctly undistinctive audi sleekness

+1 i dont think i like this at all personally and feel it is very overpriced. as i mentioned before "a hyped up citroen ds3!!"

Hi mates,

Same for spain, increased price for cupra and FR, less extras (racing brakes, folding mirrors...), commercial strategy, the presentation of A1 and polo gti are coming soon (I supose).

The A1 is nice but too expensive... And Polo does not convince me, my choose, obviously the cupra :)

Cheers

Sorry but I like it! Looks very good quality on the inside and quirky on the outside. I wouldn't have the 1.4t 7-speed DSG over my Boc though.

I think the 1.4T's remap to 190BHP if they haven't fitted the new non tamper ECU's. That could be quite nice in S-Line class.

I do love the way the reviews have gone as follows:

Seats version 3.5*s
VW 4*s
Audi 5*s

Really in my eyes there is not a huge jump between the Polo and the Ibiza in quality terms as i've sat in both. The Seat really is the better value.
