If your just driving for pleasure don't keep note of mpg, if on a journey to get somewhere is the extra 10/20mph really worth the extra cost and possible points for the time you save? That's the way I look at it :)

i used to drive 10-20mph almos everywhere until i got 6 points!!!!! then i instantly drop down to the speed limits the most ill do is 80 mph on the motorway.

i a;ways used higher octane fuel, i studied a degree in automotive engineering for a short while and found out the benifts of higher octane fuel arent just on mpg and performance but mainly there are a few extra additives and it is much better on the internals of the engine, mainly fuel injectors, hence why you can buy octane booster items from halfords but these can cause damage to the internals.

I do it coz I'm a poser with my vpower card and the elite pump :)

Having never run the car on 95 I couldn't tell you the difference. All I know is I'm generally hally with my mpg figures and the car feels spot on!

Whats the difference between the normal Card and the V power card? also use Shell myself but have only got a drivers club card :(

Double points on vpower. So double the reward at the end of the quater. They will send you a vpower card if you put enough vpower in over the quater.

i have read somewhere before that if you use super unleaded over the space of a year it can actually save you a bit of money all together although the initial outcost is a little more

SUPER UNLEADED £1.19.9 almost 10p cheaper than every where else in my area. I am so stoked!!!!!!!!

I got me a Vpower card and only use it, had to drop some Esso Premium in before, no shell at 3 local Shell garages, and over the 2 tanks of the Esso, I noticed it wasn't quite as responsive... or was I loking for it, dunno. But no, can't fault the Shell Premium 99 RON, went down to 125.9 recently from 128.9, so save £1.30 there in all on a tank.

I got a normal card and because I only use Vpower, Shell automatically transferred my points and sent me a new card. You could probably get one straight over the counter as they do have them in the Petrol Stations. I prefer Shell, stick to what you like, it's 99 RON and once your engine ECU has accustomed stick with it.

You cant get a v-power card over the counter you have to get a normal one then use enough v-power so they upgrade you. Just got an £8 voucher through and have only had the vpower card just under a month so its all good :D

500 points are worth £2.50 in vouchers.

1 point per litre on unleaded.
2 points per litre on super unleaded.

250 litres x £1.20 = £300 spend to get £2.50 back.

Way I look at it is i'm putting in V-power anyway as I personally feel it is the best premium quality fuel. If shell want to give me double points and some money back thats totally fine.
