Yep. But look what you get for £15k - povo spec Astas and Focuses. £20k would be a fairer price especially considering its basically a Cupra with an R badge.

New car prices are insane these days. You can indeed get a lot for £25k used - but comparing a new car with 3 years warranty to something significantly older is ridiculous. What else can you get new for £25k with 5 doors that compares? Not a lot.

I would never buy a new car and alot of those rs6 come with warrente.

Why not spend £3k on a motorbike that will tear an RS6 a new hole then?

Comparing new vs old is not really valid for some as old cars come with history no warranty (at least not a new dealer warranty).

An older RS6 would be (potentially) a complete money pit IMHO.

By the look of your list your car is a money pit like mine all cars are , I was stating my opinion to the question asked , new shape s3 arnt far off that price with warentee ,I think the R has been over hyped and it's over priced , bikes don't come into it there toys can't carry the lilttle one or the missus shopping lol ,that's my 2p to the question , my money would be spent on a rs6 or Evo 8-9 Not a leon

Thats fair enough. My car has indeed been a money pit, but its running costs are no more than a standard Cupra which means it costs a lot less to run than your crop/choice of cars and it is a lot less likely to need big repairs on it with it being that much newer.

As mentioned above, if I was spending out my own hard earned coin on a NEW car, it would be on another Leon Cupra before a Leon Cupra R as I agree with the R being overpriced.

For sure, bargains can be had buying older/several owners/high powered cars which will be quicker than new cars of the equivalent price, but some people want/need to have a newer more reliable car.

I am actually thinking about buying a small everyday car and my dream car (Escort RS Cosworth) in addition to the every day car rather than one that does both things together.

Was just looking at prices and thought i would stick them on if anyone is bothered

Manufacturer's Retail Recommended Price:

Renault

Renaultsport 250 Cup: £23,160.00

Renaultsport 250: £24,160.00

Renaultsport 250 with Cup Chassis and Recaro Pack: £26,060.00

Seat

2.0 TSI 240PS Cupra £21,500.00

2.0 TSI 265PS Cupra R £25,205.00

Focus

Focus RS £27,895

You can get all those cars for less if you look in the correct places though - point in case being the Leon Cupra which can be had for about £2k less than the price quoted above easily enough.

Very true, i just thought i would state what it had on the manufactures website.

I would never pay asking price from a dealer.. wonder if some people actually do

Buying a RS6 is one thing, running the bloody barge is another another.

If you like to rag your cars the RS6 will eat pads and discs, tyres and fuel. And because the RS6 is so heavy and powerful it has stupidly big brakes, and stupidly wide tyres, both of which cost a bundle, and wont last long because the car is so heavy.

Light cars the the way forward for sane running costs and good speed.

Would love an escort cossie or rs500 pure **** , pov if you can't afford to pay for tyres etc you don't spend the 18 - 25 grand on the car in the 1st place you get a metro lol

. Spot on.

And you also need to think about clutches going with its all wheel drive and, perish the thought, an engine/turbo/gearbox going bang and the replacement cost. A 3rd party warranty wont be cheap for them either.

yep twin turbos, one goes, gotta replace em both, not cheap, plus RS6 has DRC suspension issues, and no warranty company would touch a modded RS6, and even when it come to shopping trolleys driven by grannies they often get out of covering repairs!

By what im reading come 2015 onwards cars are gonna be awesome. Audi will be cutting the average vehichle weight by 250kg from the A4 range upwards, and nearly every engine will be turbo powered.

Next S3 300hp out the box, and the 2.5TFSI will apparently find its way in other vehicles, with a output of up to 440hp
