What tyres to purchase?

Well it is time for the Cupra R to get some new tyres all round. I was looking at getting some Pirelli P-Zero Rosso but have been told that they are very soft and wear out quickly. So are there any other good quality tyres that are not too expensive but have plenty of grip on them in wet and dry.

There is a new thread about this already.

My 2p is:
Depends on price range I guess. On my LC I use Hankook Ventus Evo 12. I've used Goodyear Eagle F1s, Falken 452s and Avons. I get most wear from the Hankooks, better grip in the wet than Falkens (same grip as Eagle F1s, and they're cheaper than Eagle F1s.

I have p zero rossos on my lcr on the back...they are grippy as hell but as you said they wear out pretty quickly compared to other tyres. I put Marshalls on the front which are still pretty grippy (never had any issues with handling in the wet etc) but last quite a bit longer.

grip and wear go along together. lots of grip means probably lots of tyre wear too.

higher priced versions tend to be better in terms of both wear and grip, but as long as you not choosing from the big5 (Conti, Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Dunlop) you have to sacrifice something. grip in wet, grip in dry, wear, noise, price - and in not that particular order.
your primary choice mostly depends on a price range you are willing to sacrifice.
I'd say get a set of Conti SC3's (they are my all time favourite) second yould be Pzero Rosso, then SportMaxxTT and finally Bridgestone RE050A. - with those tyres you do not had to make any big compromise.
if you have less money, blackcircles have an offer for Falken 452's fitted @ 85 quid each.
between the Falkens and the SC3 you can find the Hankook Ventus V12 evo for 104 fitted.

I used to use F1's - but have now gone back to P-zero Rosso's. They do wear fast... but I love the grip ;)

(Also, not sure they make F1's anymore?)

the ze912s from falken are comparable with the 452s... i have both and the 912s feel as good and not as crashy as the 452s.

6 quid cheaper a tyre aswell

I had falkens before my f1's and I would say the F1's had better grip and lasted longer 23000 compared to the 19000 I got out of the falkens. Probably just edged them on value as well as the falkens worked out at £88 a piece a couple of years ago and the F1's at £99 a piece a year ago.

The F1's do seem to wear unevenly, but I'm impressed enough to be getting another set fitted tomorrow £206 for the pair.

The F1's have much greater rim protection as well, from memory the falkens had no protection.

I was using pilots but they don't last long and at £150 per tyre I found them a waste of money. I'm now running kumho's and they seem just as good tbh and at £70 fitted for each tyre you can't go wrong.

I've got Falken 452's at the moment and they are pretty good. Had the LCR standard Pirelli's previously and they weren't that great to be honest. Swapped the fronts to Hankook's and although the grip was terrible, they were supreme in the wet and that's something I miss dearly in the Falkens. I did run Goodyear GSD3's for all of 6k and they are awesome in term of grip and feel. However I bought them at the wrong time and wore them out in less than 6k but they were never a winter tyre!

Vredstein are the next on the list to try. My mate used to run them on his Impreza and rated them highly!
