Quick question, parked next to a mk4 ibiza today and it was an 09 plate. I thought that the mk4 was stopped in 2008 (58)? wondering if its a fake reg plate, cos i had already reported an astra outside my work with a fake plate and now it has vanished

You can get them from dvla where you make your own and it's 2 letters 2 numbers 3 letters just like a normal plate so I could get mine KR10 KCC for example surely that's saying my cars newer?

Yes you could buy that plate and put it on a retention certificate - BUT

It would be illegal to put that plate on anything older than a 1st March 2010 car.

The dvla web site tells you you cant do it.

...and if you do it and get caught, then DVLA takes the registration number away, which you will have paid at least a few hundred pounds for.

You never own registration numbers - they're like software, you only own the right to use that number.
