Alex,

The best advice to offer is to look at your current key, and get the same frequency as the one you have. That way, you guarantee it'll work.
Some say different frequencies work, but why take the gamble? They are usually all the same price anyway.

BTW I remember hearing that the 3 button ones don't work with the MK4, I can't clarify that though

I have a 3 button keyfob for my mk4 which works fine - no issues. Think it's pot-luck, perhaps down to ECU revision or something?

You can ask the seller what frequency it is, because it should be on the key - failing that a search on here for the part number may reveal the answer :)

You need a key with the part number starting with 1J0 not 1K0

I have a 3 button 1J0 959 753 AH and it works fine including the boot release

I think you may have to enable the 3rd button boot release in vagcom though

yeah £5 here aswel ,3 button works fine with my 2002 sport including boot release and 433 and 434 mhz are the same really both will be fine,

Just re-programmed the RCL to my car with a new 3 button key today. I've not had to split it apart yet though so not sure what freq the flip key is c/w my old non-flip key.

I still have to get the transponder working though - which as far as I'm aware I need to either add the current flip-ey transponder to the safe-keys list in the ECU using VagTacho or get a virgin transponder from hickleys.

already have a 2 button (came with the car) but its seen better days where the best place to buy one.

I know stealers are goingto charge £200+ for one.

I am guessing ebay for the key then backstreet for the key cutting then where for the chip bit?

I am new to the seat seen (long time on the ford) so sorry for the silly questions

you will need a virgin transponder as you can't code one to a car once it has been used (on another car)

As above get a transponder from hickleys or you can get the top half of the key with uncut blade and virgin transponder from ebay

I stay in Salford during the week and could code it for you (depending on what car you have)
