exhaust pipe

Bit of a strange question here but does anyone clean there exhaust tail pipes ? ive seen a few fr's now with them cleaming makes the back of the car look realy good IMO, mine is coverd in black shite and its a petrol !!|Any particular stuff to use or am i the only the sad one ?

i use metal polisher the stuff i keep in the garage is either autoglym metal polish or meguires nxt polish too with a old cloth :) hope this helps - apply one and buff off (elbow grease) doesn't take long.

Same here meguires nxt polish takes all the baked on soot off. Gives it really high polish
 
I started using Brasso on the shiny bit of my FR's tailpipe for a while, then just got bored of it. The gleaming look literally only lasted about a day's normal driving for me, so only worth doing if you are showing off your car IMHO (e.g. private sale viewing or a car show or summat).

My Ecomotive doesn't have the fancy polished bit on the exhaust so I have an excuse to ignore it now. ;)

I just wash my exhaust with normal car shampoo once a week and it has stayed gleaming. It is stopping the build up of soot and the etching of the metal is the key, but any metal polish even a brilo pad will remove the worst of the build up.

If it is really bad use some wire wool with the polish as well. But as said above once you have done this once normal shampoo or wheel cleaner at most will stop the build up.
