^ Fair point...it must be the heat! I'm assuming you just sprayed the badge gloss black?

Hi there, new to the forums and about to buy a black cupra. I think it would look the dogs nadgers with a black front badge. What colour paint did you use and what brand? Don't want it starting to wear and chip etc looking poo!

it's all in the prep but tbh it's at the front of the car so is goi g to get battered the same as everything else. I keyed the badge but the chrome finish is really tough to score up. Then used plastic primer which was flatted back then finished with some Halfords gloss black.

I have been in the process of spraying my grill/ badge for ages now. Had to start from scratch because when i tried to reinsert the badge it scratched off alot of the paint lol. I'm not using masking tape over the badge, which i will then remove when in place to prevent the scratches happening. However i'm stuck again. I can't believe what a pain this has been for me lol I cant seem to get the top half of the badge to clip back into place. The bottom goes fine but the top just wont get anywhere near it, leaving a big gap.

Any tips? I just don't understand how i'm having so much trouble!

No tips as suck, it just clips back in, make sure the tabs that you removed off the centre stripes arent fouling.

I knocked a little of paint of mine sliding it in, just touched it back up.

Techie, yeah that happened to me, tried touching it up but looked horrible so resanded etc and started again :(

Dave 77. Yeah i thought that at first lol After about an hour of pushing and pulling i managed to get it in. Chipped alot of paint off again even with the masking tape on, so now i'm leaving it in but carefully masking off the surround so i can spray. Just hope this works... If it chips this easily though i'm worried a stone will chip it as soon as i drive off with it on lol

Noticed that the Boca's grill is gloss black where as my Cupra's is matte black :( Might have to order one of these, can you guys with Boca's also tell me if the lower grill is gloss black aswell? :)

Danny.

i lacquered mine and its been fine for a week or so. Main problem that i came across was putting the badge back in after painting without scratching. So i painted it, put it back in, touched it up if required then lacquered the lot. Probably not the best choice but worked for me!

LOL  it does need keying to give the paint something to key to. Maybe we've been doing it wrong with wet and dry :cartman:
