Unfortunately looks like Mrs K Turbo has blown on her 2.0 ref sport. Was wondering if people could recommend where would be the best place to purchase a replacement an whether in view of the revo map, we should be looking to purchase an uprated turbo ?

Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt the map would have had much to do with the turbo failure, there are plenty of revo maps out there doing big mileage. On the flip side there are a few posts where people running standard power loose a turbo.

A standard replacement turbo will be fine I reckon, otherwise you're going to need an uprated clutch to handle the big turbo power/torque.

its a weak point on 2.0bkd engine, judging by the amount that go pop mapped or otherwise. hence me fitting a hybrid, im running 190ish through it even though it could take more.

As others have mentioned in other threads you might get some joy out of SEAT depending on age and where you've had it serviced.

Mine popped about 3 months ago whilst in third and giving it the beans coming off an island.

To be fair, id known it was coming for about 6 months prior to that because of the whining sound the worn bearings were making.

I was fortunate that i caught it as soon as the impella sheared. Stopped too much oil from flying down the cat and wrecking it. Though when the garage had changed the turbo, they had to leave the car running for about 2 hours to burn off most of the oil in the exhaust system as it was smoking like crazy!

Sourced a reconditioned turbo from turbo technics. Got it delivered straight to an independant garage id had the car towed to and they fitted it and sent the old one back. Reconditioned turbo is under warranty for 2 years and turbo technics are very professional to deal with

Total price was £500 plus VAT for the turbo (587.50)

and £200 plus the VAT for the fitting (235)

Grand Total £822.50

Plus having my car out of action for a whole week!

Must be a weak point on the 140's because ive heard of soooo many that go pop.
Id only done about 60K when mine went pop and it was only 4 years old (missed the warranty by about 8 months).

Car is as standard from factory!
