I know this might be somewhere else on here but i did a search and nothing came back so i thought id ask on here. When I got the car from my mate i didn't realize it has locking nuts and i dont have the key neither does my mate. I know them nuggets at halfords sell the romovers but do they work properly and if not what else can i do to get them off?

Think its some kind of socket which you hammer onto the locking bolt, it bites into it then you undo it.

A way a mate did it was to weld a nut onto the end of the bolt, then undo the bolt from the welded on nut,

like alex said, you can get "removal sockets" that have reverse threads, when hammered on and when you loosen it (like you normally loosen the nut) it actually locks onto it, then will remove it (will need a vice to get the tool off the nut)

or the welding works

look in every spot in the car, might have left the key (glove box, boot etc, just check everywhere just in case)

if nothing still try some garages/tyre shops see if they can do it :)

yeah im going to go round the tyre & exhaust place this afternoon see what they say. Ill get one of them removal things and see if it works. the welding way would be a bit harder seen as my welding skills are about as good as a chocolate firegaurd.

handy if the car is drivable, Thumper had mcgards on and getting those off sans key has been horrendous! snap on bolt extractors no worky, drilling etc a mare...3 are off but the 4th we've left the rim attached to the driveshaft and will take that to dads mates and see what he can do!

btw suj, wtf is that parked next to your car in your sig? get a grip boy at least it should be vag! :p

VAG = Volkswagen Audi Group :)
