Vinyl Wrapping FL FR Parts

I'm entertaining vinyl wrapping some of the parts on my Leon.

Specifically the colour coded centre section on the front bumper (is black on the Cupra and Cupra R), the mirror caps and possibly the rear valance.

Has anyone tried this? I'm not worried about applying the actual vinyl, just removing the parts safely without breaking anything.

I was thinking of a matt carbon vinyl wrap on just the centre section of the bumper originally but thought this would look odd so thought extending that finish to other parts of the car might set it off better... is the centre section for the Cupra or Cupra R available on its own?

To be honest, i dont want to try and make my car look like something it isnt but i much prefer the look of the Cupras front bumper with the black insert, just makes the front end look deeper.

I'm going to doing the front bumper as you are, i'm looking for the best place to buy that amount.

I've seen 660mm x 1000mm on that auction site for £5, hope it's decent enough stuff though?

Just looking at the section behind the number plate as i like the rest of the bumper how it is... for some reason the lower grille looks too wide and having the centre piece black gives a deeper more balanced look overall.

This is the sort of thing i was looking at (coloured in the section with photoshop)

I havent looked anywhere other than the first google match for Carbon Vinyl Wrap... from what i can tell, for the quality stuff you want 3M vinyl. It is a bit more expensive though.

I prefer the front of the pre fl as it looms much more aggressive.

This is the same appearance a the pre fl using vinyly and The good thing about vinyl wrap is that you can take it off if you don't like it!

That cost £30, so no big loss on the scale of it should it be removed.

You should debadge the front too- looks much cleaner!

Take the badge off... wrap and then put it back on...

Secretly i prefer the front of the pre FL FR as well... although, up close, the FL front end has some really nice shape to it, it just doesnt look deep enough which takes away the aggression.

I'll be sticking the badge back on the front as well though, i like it. Although, i am also considering removing the LEON lettering from the rear.

The pre FL deffinately looked more aggressive and the black bottom lip enhanced the look.

Not so sure about the black bottom lip on the FL front bumper though as its much wider. The newer bumper has more shape around the bottom and maybe the colour of the paint brings the contours out a bit more?

I'm with you on the FL front bumper being much more shapely... but without the black centre section it just looks too wide...

Now if i could find the cupra section to replace the colour coded one on mine that might be worth the punt... with the FR badge obviously

I did mine a few months back for the same reasons as n_d. Took about an hour all in the hardest part was the removable towing eye cover surprisingly. 6 months on still looks good. £5 off fleabay for the wrap and seems good stuff so far..........

Greg your car look fab really works well and gives it a true BTCC look!!!

Away at he moment but will upload a better picture for you later on in the week.

Other than the the number plate you can apply it without removing anything I just cut it to approx side and then heated and pushed it round and into the top and side edges and then cut the access away with a craft knife. Bottom section is dead easy just folds underneath. Leaving plenty of access to cut away seems to be the key along with plent of heat from a hairdryer.
