Agreed, but this project didn't begin...yesterday..

And also, i kinda think that if the hybrid made like 470 bhp (lets say it does)
it would be in 10 different forums by now.

So my guess is either this didn't work as planned, or the results were "less than satisfactory.."

I will eat my own socks if it makes a genuine 470bhp, and if it does, the plot is bound to be :censored: awful.

Oops sorry got Backdraft an Jabbasport mixed up...
Jabbasport told me they will have a product ready in January.
Any reputable tuner will long term test their developing products before releasing them for the general public. I imagine this is what is holding things up.

Yeah well i don't think its possible to make above 420 bhp with any modification to the turbo...

The point is though the "kits" will have to be VERY affordable, cause if removing and modding the K04 costs just a little bit less than actually getting a GT3071R on, then why do it anyway ?

no lag with k04

I think I wise man would wait until the product is released before praising/mocking it...

I agree. However, someone would have to be foolish to believe that hybridising a relatively small turbo is going to increase flow of air enough to give 100bhp more.

I thought that the aim of a hybrid was 40bhp over a Stage 2+ i.e. 400bhp?

As you say, we would really need to wait to see the proof in the pudding! And as was mentioned before, it has taken an awfully long time for this product to become "right". There was talk of this hybrid turbo back as far as late spring, and it was on a car by June.

im keen to see how backdraft motorsports vRS estate is going to do.

hes fitting diffeent hybrid internals than the other guys that is allegedly alot cheaper and it doesnt matter if the k04 you supply is in tip top condition. the key thing is though, the k03 engine they are using has a higher compression ratio than the k04. Also they are going to try and use the REVO stage 3 file and adapt it to work, so its not going to be a custom job.

but a 400Hp vRS estate is an awesome sleeper, not only could you get spanked by a skoda, its also an estate haha

I would be interested to see how long a BWA 2.0T would last with no upgraded internals with double original power though especially if its pushing a similar ftlb torque wise ;)

forgot to mention, he is uprating the rods and head bolts, but pistons and compression ratio will be unchanged

Is this the BWA 197bhp engine Sy?

How much do those upgrades cost?

There have been quite a few failures to do with head gaskets and piston rings on 2.0T's with higher power now.

who is keeping hush? I can understand cars which are still under warranty, but alot of the stage 2 plus cars out there must be coming towards the end of that!

I am not saying which cars as they are not mine. One was an S3 that had a head gasket fail and the car needed a new engine and a Cupra (not mine) that had a piston ring fail and it also needed a new engine.

i think one of the worst culprits could be revo. with most maps the tuner sets it up at its optimum with their extensive knowledge and experience.

yet with revo anyone can have a go at adjusting. how many guys have posted up after having obscure settings on revo after having a go them selves

Dont expect you too, but sorta dismayed at the owners not sharing their bad experiences and perhaps stopping similiar fates happening to others. Thats what these forums were all about back in the day anyhow.

Both cars had different maps. I also know of a 3rd car which had both issues.
