I am about to put a nice clutch on mine So stage 1 remap in few days to come :)
BOBBY where can I get a better turbo for mine cupra Tdi?

Depends what you want - plug and play then i guess a decent vnt 17 hybrid or if you dont mind abit of cutting and welding 2260 from a Audi 3.0

Do you think your old injectors clean up the smoke and give me any more power, I have stage 2 hybrid turbo, Sachs clutch, 221-241 bhp 360lb/ft, but very smokey.

Is your 2260 a std or hybrid turbo ?

How did you manage to put that turbo in there ?
Did you use the original exhaust manifold or did you fabricated new one?
I can get the turbo from 3.0 audi so I am thinking about it .
and how do you actually make a hybrid turbo? I have read something about putting the cold side from different turbo but I am not sure how exactly they did it

If your already making a real 220hp then you wont get anymore power but yes with my old nozzles you'll be pretty much smoke free at 215 to 220hp. Bear in mind I've tested some of the hybrid set up's - some claim 230hp but when tested they are actually making 198hp. Bad news is that I've sold them already.

Do some reading on TDI club - alot of information is available. Basically cut off the turbo from the stock mani, weld in a flange, convert the turbo to vac, make a new dp and intercooler pipework.

oh bugger lol.

Its refreshing to read about someone who has real experience without the all the bs. I Have wasted alot

of time and money with some tuners that can talk the talk but can't walk the walk.

Car sounds like an animal..I'm really after doing this.... I'd be happy with280bh ish do I need to have ported head etc etc or can I just get the turbo dp clutch injectors and ic piping?
Also could you pm me roughly how much this set up cost?
Also are there any companies that will do this conversion for me?
Karl

You can probably get 280 without the ported head. But I wouldn't trust standard rods at that power and a high lift cam would help the engine breathe a bit too.
Darkside developments have a kit for the tdi with a 2260vk turbo and manifold to bolt on. On top of it you will need big nozzles fitted to your injectors, rods, cam and a clutch. Plus intercooler piping and setup to make the most of it. Then to top it off you need a custom remap. Getting someone to do the conersion for you shouldn't be too hard. I can't see much change from 7 grand if your getting it fitted by someone to be honest.

More info on it here too

I have clutch and fmic already....hmmm 7k is a bit mor than what I thought...I was thinking5k tops....although I can do a lot of the work myself to saave costs damn that's expensive :(

If you have the clutch and fmic and can do alot of the work yourself you can probably get it sorted for around. 5k all in. 2k for turbo + mani and other stuff. 1k for nozzles and injector setup. 500 for some rods. 500 for a cam. That leaves you 1k for mapping and any fitting you don't want to take on yourself.

I would reccomend you have a chat to Ryanp from darkside developments about your goals and see what he can sort you out. Looking at this bobby didn't fit rods so maybe you don't need them in a PD engine.

Sorry guys haven't been on here for a bit.
If you guys need help with anything inc mapping etc drop me a pm. Like its been mentioned ryan is doing a kit but i havent fitted any of these.
Since this thread i blew my turbo running 2.7 bar so now fitted a new turbo running 2.2 bar with much larger nozzles.

For anything over 250hp you need a ported head (and its got to be a good job or you might aswell forget it).

Im using stock rods.

Im looking to sell the car soon so if anyone is interested drop me a pm

Thanks
Bobby

Yes stock rods - I've approx 5k with the ported headed etc but its been running 265hp for 30k
In total i've got 173k

No one that i know has bend rods on a pd engine with torque/power - more weaker are the main caps studs/bolts

Cheers
