Tis no worries dude, thanks for the kind words :) It's always weird going to meets and shows when you don't know anyone, you chat on here quite happily and know what the car looks like but have NO idea about the owner!

Another time chap. :D

Maybe we should start a face to names thread?

Haha, completely with you. I still don't know alot of people at the meets. Only had my car just over a year now, but not been to as many meets as I'd have hoped to go to.

Good idea, either that or a thread which shows your car, and a link your your facebook profile so we can read up on each other

Hey Tom,

Congrats on today's RR figures. Brilliant to see a few KO4s breaking the 300 bhp mark! Really promising for the future. Not too envious btw... Is the clutch holding up okay?

What plans do yo have in mind for the months ahead?

James.

Hi James,

Thanks for the comments :)

It certainly is promising stuff. The K04 can do it, people just have to get the car running as free flowing as possible and that includes the 3" TIP without a doubt.

The clutch is holding up ok at the moment. Touch wood!

I have plenty of things to get stuck into for the months ahead, pending my bank balance! Got a couple of holidays to get out the way and car insurance renewal so I'm not sure how much is going to get done anytime soon if I'm being realistic :(

Fans need fixing, I want ARB's, but the brakes will need doing, all 4 discs and pads with new fluid, strut braces, wheel refurb, brembo refurb....

Plenty to do, but a matter of time and money now. Spent so much recently!!

Tom

Well done Tom,awesome power!

Thanks mate :D

Congratualtions Tom, thats a superb result.:)
Very importantant to get some vagcom logs though seriously mate because at 300 bhp you 380 cc injectors will be flat out and at 330 ft/lb torque your rods ain't going to last long:(. A few minor tweaks here and there and the jobs a good un.
exhaust mani must be calling;).

So your suggesting I uprate the rods and injectors soon? I was under the impression the rods would be good for 350 lb/ft but please enlighten me with what you know.. :)
Exhaust mani not anytime soon, but maybe in the future lol!

been following your thread mate, must say, brilliant work with car. im a fellow platinum lcr owner and have to say yours is looking nice. also congratulations on the rr figures, very impressive and now making me want the 3 inch tip also. see how the next month goes financially lol. anyway, good luck with it and keep up the good work.

p.s, i had silver wheels on my car before, now got gloss black and personally i'd say they do suit the car, but some like it alot whereas others are less impressed. personal opinions hey.

take care

Thanks for the post Gulzar :)

It's taken just over a year to get to this stage from a standard 225, when it was making 212bhp :(

Lol, always comes down to money unfortunately and lots else to pay for outside of the LCR which is a shame and a pain :(

I recommend the 3" TIP if your after maximum flow from your k04. Certainly will help ;)

The wheels will be changing colour in the upcoming months, and will probably be going darker... Down to time and money again though! Doh...

When you log channel 2 vagcom you can see the injector on time and determine the duty cycle. You could install a 4 bar regulator or simply swap injectors to 430 cc like i've done, but you will need to adjust fueling using lemiwinks etc.
350ft/lb torque is very bad news for rods, you / i wouldn't want to go over 300ft/lb. Without seeing the actual boost achieved its difficult to comment but i recon your probably seeing approx 1.6 bar spike which is causing the high boost spike but it will be just that ... a spike which serves no performance gain but can seriously damage your car. A map tweak or mbc can reduce this to safe levels without compromising overall performance.
Its worth thinking about, but i'm surprised AMD aren't more on the ball about this and advising accordingly.

No cold air feed to my filter, but I plan on doing this sometime soon. Probably one down to the fog light mate.

Interesting stuff.. I'll post up my graph today as alot of what you have told me is new to me.
I only planned on going stage 2 but not expecting this eventual power output on the standard k04 lol!

Thanks for the info though Willy. Definitely need to think about this and make sure my car isn't at rod bending torque levels for too long.

What would you do personally in this situation to start with?

Ask someone local with vagcom to run some logs. Or buy a liqui gauge.
Anyone running a modded car..... vagcom is a must imho.

I have vag-com but as I mentioned, I'm a complete newbie to it sadly
My friend does have it and has done for a few years with his stage 2 LCR so I will contact him and see what logs we can do and when. Hopefully this week.. I'm wanting some airflow logs too to see what the 3" TIP and jetex are doing as they seem to be doing the business. It's just a case of wanting to know it in more depth!

Hopefully will have my boost/oil temp gauges fitted soon too which will help aswell with keeping an eye on boost.

nice results there chaps.. well done.
I look forward to seeing the logs of airflow, boost, injector ms etc

Glad you like the 3inch TIp..

re your boosts, dont rely on liqui or vagcom where you see 2550mb as thats the sensor limit not the boost you're running... you need a gauge to see above this level.. If too high or spikey then I would fear for rods (if) those torque levels are real.

I believe there's quite a difference between AmD's dyno and mine, results wise, in power/torque terms, but before to after gains are gains none the less. It would be interesting to compare a car which had been AmD'd recently here to compare dyno's to understand the comparisons better

nice one.

Thanks for the reply Bill :)

In terms of logs, I will try to get these as soon as I can and post them up. I think quite a few people want to see what the TIP is doing airflow wise on standard k04 with a stage 2 map.

The TIP is great yes, very pleased :D

If these figures are true, then I too do fear a bit for my rods I will admit. What route would you take if these are? Uprate rods first of all? Injectors? 4 bar FPR? Am still running oem 3 bar.. Would just like some advice as what preventions to take if any at this stage.

Whether the rollers are accurate or not can be talked about allday as you know, but like for like gains, it proves the 3" TIP has gained me approx 17bhp and torque up from 307 to 330 (+23 lb/ft) so I think it counts when you look at the top end torque for sure. That's where I've noticed it on the road without a doubt, pulls alot harder noticeably 4th gear up.

I would gladly bring my car to you if you we're closer! If someone pays for the petrol I will come down this week to get it rolled and for you to have a look at  :)

Cheers for the post
Tom

Great results Tom. I didn't bother running mine as I figured I'd plough that £35 into FMIC funds but on the road it's brutal :). I hope that when I go Stage 2 in Spring/Summer I can still get a good readout like yours.

Thanks Jason. Pretty happy with how she's performing at the moment for sure. I understand the word 'brutal' at the moment ;)

As in my above post though with Bill, I want to make sure the boost is safe and I'm now looking into what to uprate as a prevention rather than an expensive fix further down the line...

I'm sure your car will make great power. Your using all the right parts and doing each mod with alot of thought, rather than rushing into it. Certainly having the 3" TIP was a great move :)

Looking forward to hearing your exhaust one day.
