I'll need to check it at home. Its the same looking as a MTB brake cable outer. It went done further than the dipstick did though.

Although after shelling out for an Oil Filter Drainage Tool, I'll probably just carry on now the old fashioned way
I found a UK place selling the drain tools today, so have that, and a shallow 36mm socket ordered from them. The tool is only £19.
I've been trawling VW and Audi forums and not found much about the pump not working on the 2.0T engine. Maybe I need to try it again the next time, before I drain the sump and change the filter.
Who is the supplier at that price? Thats a very good price.

Thats the one, must be a new product by Sealey they weren't' available when I was looking. Had mine a while now. The OE one is Brass, mine is Aluminium, these look like Plastic hence the price difference I suppose. When you use it you need a fair amount of force against the spring on the filter casing, just be careful not to cross thread the tool. (not intended to sound like I'm trying to teach my granny to suck eggs

Its always good have a some tips for the job so I'll watch what I'm doing. Will be the summer though before I spend another £40 on oil change. Will do the oil filter, plugs and air filter at the same time. Will update the thread then though.
