I think someone needs to read the thread title...

My OPINION on the K1 kit is i love it... i have not had the front and rear bumpers put on my FR as i have not had the money to and wanted to do other mods first. The skirts and spoiler combination do make the car, but i would like to have the rest. Although, if i did get the rest i would have to have the dual exit exhausts as i dont particularly like the look of the centre exit...

Congrats on your purchase OP and enjoy your car! Have you any mods planned?

Looking forward to getting it however it's really the wife's car as u have an A3. TDi quattro s-line 170bhp. I'm not sure on any mods yet but probably just the head unit first.

Sorry for sounding daft - but I thought the K1 was a standard cupra bought from the seat dealer and spec'd with the optional body kit, that was fitted in the uk after purchase!!!!!!

Help confused::confused:

My point was that the dealer a seat dealer at that, aren't advertising it as a k1, there advertising it as a seat Leon cupra 2.0t fsi, so this surely means the kit was fitted later, hence the car not being a k1??

Check the numberplate! Put it on anywebsite it will tell you what is if not ask for the logbook mine says k1 baby

My K1 shows as a Leon cupra tsi, should I be concerned because I do feel a bit at the moment!

My answer to that dean is no don't be worried I'm not padantic and daft let's be truthfull they are allbthe same cars really just different paperwork who honestly gets horny about that I certainly don't so... Big daft argument same engine samebodykit who cares!!! Yours is k1 as much as mine!!

Appreciate they are all the same cars but I'm more concerned about if the car is actually insured.

If it's on the V5 that the car is a cupra and it has modifications (a body kit) I didn't mention it when I sorted my insurance am I covered ok or is it classed as an option?

You should discuss that with your insurance company and get the answer in writing. :)

Generally insurance will not be bothered as it a standard seat dealership kit !!

That is exactly what my insurers told me last week, (as mine is only classed as a Cupra Fsi on the V5), when i told them it had the BTCC bodykit. According to the previous owner of my 'K1', the bodykit along with the K1 exhaust was fitted a month after it was first registered.

If you bought the Cupra with the very good 'Cupra' private plate, the kit was fitted about 2 years after it was first registered!

No idea where I got a month after then:lol: That plate got me stopped after only 10 days of owning it:cry:

Is it marshals Leicester? Cos that's just a standard cupra with a k1 kit, it doesn't say k1 in the heading it just says this car has the optional k1 body kit!!

Just coming back to this one, I've just had to arrange the insurance for the car as I pick it up on Sunday and when I gave them the reg they told me that it was a K1....looks like the dealers put the details on the web incorrectly. :D

thats strange
dont see how they can tell if its a K1 your log book will show Cupra
perhaps the 1 you use only lists the K1 unless you said cupra with halfords bumpers? :p

I think it seems the whole 'K1' concept was a con - trick by SEAT to shift some unpopular and probably over-produced BTCC / WTCC bodykits.

Personally the only part of that kit worth having is the side skirts.

The bumpers just look vile and overweight with false vents etc.

I was never a fan of the rear spoiler as it is far too 'Boy racer' for my tastes.

I am not knocking other members cars by the way, as the K1 can look quite striking, I just think it doesn't look like a Leon Mk2 anymore, which for me is one of the best looking hatchbacks ever designed.

the rear spoiler on the FL models is less boy racer in my opinion, seems to fit/suite the car better, but again not as in your face if thats what your after
