Hi lads,

Iv a question.. iv a 00 year seat inca

are the mk2 and mk3 chassis's the same?

as im kind in process of bying a 00 ibiza so i take its a mk3 its tdi.. and im planning on doing a conversion to it..just for more power.

but im wondering are the engine mounts the same.. as iv the mk2 ibiza front wich are standard on inca's.

so just wondering are they the same chassis as i was told it will be a stright swap..with the loom brakes drives hubs etc.

so just want to know before i go a head and buy the car thanks :D

As far as I know the mk2 is a 6n chassis and the mk3 is 6k I think but I would think most parts will fit, the mk3 was 99-2002. My Cordy is the 2000 model and a lot of the parts are different compared to the older one and they're basically an ibiza estate and saloon. The engine should fit though because they have the same engines in some of them:)

I just seen your other thread so I thought I'd just add other info here,
There's no major faults as far as I'm aware, the abs will just be a sensor and they're about £20 and the air bag shoiuld be able to fix fine if you can find the wire and fix it but the other thing is to plug the car up and use something like vcds to see if it can be cleared from there and it'll also tell you exactly which sensor is knackered.:)

can i post a link to the car im ment to be buying or do i need a certain amount of posts inorder to post a link or even a picture of it?

Yeh you need 15 posts but you could stick up the address without the www bit then I can sort it from there. If that doesn't work try puting spaces in the address:)

Just remembered, the 6n and 6k are Cordy chassis:doh: There might be some info in the faq but I think the differences will probably be similar.:)

No the 6k is the mk3 ibiza and I'm fairly sure the 6n is the mk2:)

so the engine and box from the mk3 will fit straight into my mk vans bay

and his brakes and hubs will fit straight on to my inca?

basicly everything i need off his will fit straight on and into mine?

The engine and box should fit fine but I'm not a 100% sure about the hubs etc, I don't see why they wouldn't though as you'll be taking the complete struts with hubs, drive shafts etc Hang on til later today and give other folks a chance to chime in just to be sure first.:)

no prob thanks.. i dont mind waiting as long as i cant get this sorted

thanks for your input.. appricated :D

6N is a polo.

THIS thread may help a bit. It's probably best asking the mk2 lads as they tend to put more mk3 bits in their mk2s than we put mk2 bits in our mk3s.

As above 6N is a polo. Ignore all references to it.

6K is 'Ibiza/Cordoba/Inca' - and what you want to do is swap both subframes across as there are subtle differences.

The front subframe may not fit, as there are variations between the chassis leg designs (that make no sense) - but you can normally make whichever engine mount 'fit' if you have to

all i want to do is take the engine box ecu loom drives hubs brakes tank..brake lines fuel lines servo etc everything and anything that i need to do a conversion out of the 00 mk3 and put it into my 00 mk2 inca

can all this be done?

as i cant find mk2 ibiza cheap enough or at all to buy as a donor.. only one i could find is a mk3

but i was told everything should swap stright over.. but i came on here to get my info on it

The only thing that may not fit from the list you describe is the front subframe (but equally it may fit...)

Everything else is how I would (and have) done and engine swap across 6K chassis. Hopefully you have the keys, and clocks & ECU as they're all paired

so it s 50/50?

no point in getting the car if half fits and half dont.. just waste of money imo

i dont know what do now  lol

the car im getting is a full donor car like..

anyone tell me what can be swapped and what cant be swapped over? if anoyone has had this experience or been in this situation

thanks

Some of the front subframes will fit, some won't

The one you have on the car currently fits.... so just use that one. You may need to fabricate some brackets to take a power steering hose, or modify the front engine mount if it's radically different (normally just cut a bit off the steel & rubber)

might be a stupid question but what you mean by subframe? and the you mean swaping subframe?

i was told the engine and gearbox mounts everything were the same as my own and that it would be a straight swap..

its turning out to be a disaster :think: lol

Hardly a disaster...

Subframes are what your engine is mounted (via engine mounts) onto.

If you look under your car there is a subframe at the rear of the engine bay that the steering rack & wishbones hang from - this is the same across all models.

At the front of the engine bay, there is another subframe that the front engine mount sits on, and attaches to the chassis rails. Mounting your engine on this is easy enough to resolve.

ah yea yea yea i know that.. but i thought you ment to swap the mk3s subframe to my mk van i was like :wtf: lol

so everything should fit from the mk3 to my van?

if you can..can you tell me what can and what cant fit or can anyone tell me?

i dont fancy taking a 50/50 chance on it..

thanks :D

I'd use the subframes from the Mk3 if you can.

They're newer & less rusted (and will last longer) That way you also can fit the Mk3 wishbones & ARB which will be in better nick than the Inca (if the Inca even has an ARB)

The only thing I'm wondering about is the fuel tank... and I can't work out why you'd want to swap that yet.

how can i/you suggest i use the subframe?

i take by that the mk3 wishbones wont fit my van clean swap..whats ARB?

reason why i want the tank is because my van is stright diesel..not sdi and i need the tank for tdi

oh this is turning out to be one big pain in the rear bumper :headhurt:

Anti Roll Bar - stops you going round corners on your door handles

Buy the Ibiza, and look side by side at the subframe (at the rear) and see how it looks.

Seriously - it's fine, buy the car & take all the bits you need & unbolt all the old stuff
