I have the same issue and unfortunately it is a respray remedyI didn't feel that I wanted to go down that line and bought a touch up kit from the dealership and just put a blob of the clearcote varnish over the top to stop it from getting worse. Thankfully mine is just a small patch.
I didn't use the paint, I only used the varnish as its quite thick. I will try and take a picture tomorrow as it has a bit of a sticker over it. It has worn down a little but, I just need to re-apply the varnish. Its not a miracle cure and its still obvious but, it stops it getting worse.
The only way to deal with it is a respray on the affected panel.
All I can say is don't even bother trying to repair/bodge or whatever, I've been there, spent hours doing it and it was a waste of time (eventually-less than a year after).
Basically its like an infection and it will spread out from the affected area. On a roof of a car I had a few years ago I spent hours cutting it back and re lacquered the affected area. It didn't look that bad for six months or so (I really did go to town on it), but then it continued its march across the panel.
For the sake of £150 for a panel, its just not worth it. Get it sprayed (assuming you're going to keep the car for a while).
2 cents worth (as you would say)
Not nicebut if its any consolation the peeling I had to deal with was umpteem times worse (almost complete roof and them starting on the bonnet).
