Drove to work today, just coming off the dual carridgeway it was making a scraping noise under braking.

The pad has completely fallen off leaving the metal backing.

I've had this car 3 days and it has 400 miles on the clock!!

You've only had it for 3 days?! OMG! i dread to think what could have happened. Were you/passengers okay? What a nightmare. Whether you bought it privately or from a dealer - i think they should have this repaired without cost. The 'Sale of Goods Act' and 'fitness for purpose' come to mind.

LOL!

Funny you say this, the same thing happend a few weeks ago in my Mk1 Fabia. Although I was just parking up and noticed it as I walked around the back of the car on the ground. I was like WTF!

Back to the stealers and new discs+pads for you !!!

Did they fix both sides for you, guy on the phone sounded like he was only gonna do the one pad!! Im gonna kick off something cronic if that's the case!!

Thats bad news mate!!! id get the car back to the dealers & demand they repair it asap[:@]

booked in for 8:15 tomorrow morning.

Gonna ask them to find out why this can happen as well, I want an answer tbh,

They have to replace both mate, wotever they do to one side they have to do to the other, which is y brake pads come in pairs

I'd guess it's sat in a compound somewhere with the handbrake on for a while judging by the (harmless) corrosion on the disc.

It's then knocked off the pad when it was released (or at least weakened it)

Was the car brand new?

180 miles on the clock been fine till today and it's the front pad not rear . Shouldn't happen at all poor quality pad IMO with bad quality control . People at work were shocked tbh.

you HAVE to change both at the same time. You cant have one new pad and one old as the thicker pad would contact the disk first, meaning you'd only be braking on one side of the car!!!

I'm aware of this I'm just gauging how stupid the dealers are ! The one I bought my car from were awesome but 100 miles away the one up here couldn't sell free heating to an Eskimo!
