Climate control display alternative use?

I was watching a video playlist on YouTube earlier. The search term was Leon Cupra R. I was coming accross in car acceleration videos where the camera kept looking down at the climate control module. The display said auto across the top and there was a temp being shown in the window. As the car sped up the temp showing would rise - as far as 28c for example.

What was it showing and how were they making it do it?

Ha, yes. I didn't mean that bit, I meant the bit about why people are recording their climate control unit displaying a rising temperature while they are accelerating hard.
