A remap can't be transferred from one car to another ;) and it also can't save you money in the long run....

Does't work for the our Leon PD engines, me and Andrew have already had many discussions and trials with it lol

Yes it can and a remap can save you more money than a tuning box if high MPG is what you want.

Does it not also depend what warranty these tuning box companies will offer on your engine?
I went with my local Seat dealer who are a Revo dealer, so either Revo and/or the Seat dealer cover any engine problems.

I think it was well worth the £399+vat for the peace of mind it gives me.

Mines a 2010 FR CR with 11k on the clock now and easily returning 50mpg on my 20 mile journey to work each way. Managing to get 550 miles from the tank.

How much is down to the Revo remap I can't say though!!!

i wont go into the details but at only 79 miles, and on teh day i collected it, my FR cr170 died. a complete new engine was fitted and its been sweet.

when i was picking it up with new engine i spoke to the mechaninc who fitted it and asked him about remaps/boxes etc. he specifically said Seat UK will not cover under warranty any parts (ie engine) affected by a remap no matter if its revo or anyone.

i countered that with the "some dealerships install revo..." and he said to me that those dealerships will be taiking the warranty risk on themselves.....seat uk still wouldnt cover it.

having been told my new engine cost £7860.00 retail and that didnt include the new turbo that they wanted to fit....im unsure about fitting anything but if i did do something im feeling like a DTUK box...

anything a box can do, a remap can, a box is just a more basic way of doing it! And dare I say inferior!

have to say i disagree, i'd rather have a box everyday over a re-map....plus with the right box, it can be switched from car to car in the long run...saving you more money.

my mates dad had the DTUK box on his Astra Twintop use to play havok with the DPF and was ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS in being repairs.

i personally dont trust boxes. id rather a remap and get it removed if needed at a later date most mappers with remove from car for free.

I think the tell on the tuning box is where it plugs into the loom.

If it effectively fudges the ECU settings for boost & fuel then it's got to be scaling it up by a certain %. It might work, but you won't know if the car is overboosting (dangerously) or underfuelling (or over fuelling)

Upon first reading about these "black boxes", they do sound tempting. But more of a HACK than a carefully setup Remap for your specific car, by one of the recommended Tuners!?

Also if it gives the owner easy access to ramp up the aggressiveness by just turning a dial or a switch, theres great potential for blown engines, without really knowing what strain your engine might be under - turning it from say a 3 to a 5 setting?

.........where can I buy one?

Hi guys,

Ive been pointed in this direction regarding our tuning systems.

As someone has mentioned, Jen my other half used to run our own Seat Leon Common Rail that was purchased purely for the purpose to optimise our systems for the VAG 2.0TDI engine in its various guises.

The hardwear/systems are produced in Germany by these guys chiptuning.com and we took their software and over 6 months developed new files more appropriate for UK driving styles.

In that time the Leon was dyno'd at Motorscope and produced a healthy

210bhp and 328lbft

the dyno graphs can be found on our Facebook pages.

Anyway im well aware of forum rules and do not want to fall foul of these, but just like remaps, not all boxes are the same and shouldnt be compared to the cheap rubbish found on ebay etc.

Anyway good luck on your quest to tune your car, and if we can be of any help then feel free to give us a try.

Blufin can be switched from car to car....

Blufin can be switched from car to car....

I dont think a Bluefin can be taken off a 2011 Common Rail VAG diesel and then be used on a 2011 BMW/Merc Blue efficiency engine can it? or the various other 2011 protected ECU's that remappers are having issues with?

You use revo, im sure you wouldnt use some kid that pulls up with a laptop with files he's bought off ebay for £30?

Its the same with boxes, there are good ones and bad ones :) We can even tune the latest 2011 2.0TFSI's and soon to be able to tune the latest S-Tronic's found in TTRS and RS3 ;)

Time and technology moves on :funk:

further to this thread, i've got DSG. i see ED30 Golf DSG guys seem to consider 300lb / 400Nm as a fairly safe upper limit for the torque to help avoid clutch slip....

anyone else know if thisis ok or is this level too high or alternatively can torque be increased further and stil be safe?

the DTUK box runs at a max 327 lbft / 443Nm so a good 10% over the ED30 golf levels...

Poverty - correct me if im wrong but dont all TTRS's come with S-tronic? what torque is yours seeing?
