im looking at upgrading the air filter to improve the performance before my remap later this year, any 1 got new filter fitted and whats the gains?

yep agreed. if you really want to change then just a green panel filter is best.

I've dropped a pipercross panel filter in mine... not because i wanted to gain anything but because the service interval for an air filter is imo too long. The OE filter in my airbox was black and full of crap. Its now sitting on the shelf and will be dropped back in when the car gets its next service.

At least i can remove, clean and refit the pipercross at my leisure

I am at stage 2

The tdi air box does not prove that much of a restriction.

And the logs above prove that the standard filter actually allows more air through than an after Market one. After I took the pipercross one out there were dust particles on the top of the air box so it wasn't even doin that good of a job.

Standard airfilter element is £8 trade

Pipercross was £38 ish.

You can get a few years of standard better filtration for the price of a piper cross that isn't very good.

My leon fr tdi in getting a stage 2 remap at 220bhp do they feel good? Plus would i need any additional mods??

You wont get it to 220bhp, 215bhp is maximum before the smoke becomes far to much.

For anything above 200 you will need DPF gutting for it to flow.

Is it a PD170 (2005-2008) or CR170 (2009-)

Yh mate getting the dpf removed as it went into limp mode and wanted the headache gone so it don't happen again.

Right ok thanks. Didn't really mod engines much tbh on my previous cars but want more power but don't want the pricey bills if anything were to break.

Hybrid turbo can get you about 250bhp - not many mappers can map these though.

GTB2260VK can get you 270-300bhp - once again not many mappers can map these.


Speak to Jamie Kilner - he only maps the PD170, doesn't touch any other engines at all, hes on FB as K-Tune
