I tell a lie, Superchips still do a PD 170 map, they have just hidden it well: http://www.superchips.co.uk/search?make=38&fueltype=2&model=159&variant=1726

if you want a map that you can take of when it comes to warranty work etc, i'd get that one, i had superchips on my old PD for about 60k no probs, till my injectors blew at 90k but i hardly think that was their fault considering the other thread on here lol

My brother has a bluefin superchips module on his Mk5 Golf GT tdi... works really well, around 200bhp and a thump load more torque, made a very noticable change to the way the car accelerates.

AFAIK Bluefin will not work with the 2009+ encrypted ECU's so that would be out of the question for me.

It just leaves P-Torque, Shrimp or the wild card of a tuning box.

Reading some of the positive feedback i'm swayed towards Shrimp at the moment.

And im definetly not going to sway you from Shrimp, obviously :), but i gave my old bluefin to a mate at work who has a Mk6 GTI, they said the handset might not work with the ecu and that it may have to go into their shop, but they couldnt confirm it, anyway we tried it on his and it worked fine no probs, i guess its just that they cant confirm it will do it 100% of the time.

I'm back again, looking into the Tuning Boxes.

DTUK do either a CRD-T or a CRD2. The CRD-T is classed as stage 2, looks like it plugs into the turbo pressure sensor aswell.

It's an extra £50 on their website for an extra 5bhp and an extra 23Nm of torque.

Looking into these again now so i can potentially use it on my next car/sell it afterwards.

Can you tell i'm indecisive?!

lol you cant call it that, from any decent tuner 210bhp is stage 1 so with DTUK its either stage 1 or for a bit less money Stage 0.95! :ban:

im still here still thinking about it like you.
i asked a Q on the revo section http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=318971 and had no response yet...shame...

my thoughts (from dsg point of view and max 400Nm ish) is to get a CRD-T.

yes its DTUK's higher power/torque but its de-tuneable in the case of the DSG.

if im sensible i reckon i could be sympathetic enough on the dsg to (hopefully) not prematurely wear clutches.....

i just know if i go try the box i'll not let them remove it and i'll hand over my cashola!

haha

I'm considering buying it, seeing what i think for a week and if i'm not happy they offer 14 days money back so i can just return it.

Reading about, it should be fun trying to get to the turbo pressure sensor!

I'm 90% sold on the CRD-T, the 10% of doubt in my case is the clutch too. Mine is a manual though and I'm really interested in the stock torque rating of a manual CR170. If I can find 3 people with one of these boxes on a CR170 that have no clutch issues I'm going to buy one.

Maybe if we can get 3 of us we can possibly ask for a bit more off?

my whole conversation with Andrew started by asking about what deal he coudl do on a pair of boxes. one for my leon and one for my XC90 family bus...so hes open to deals but i cant say what discount we could expect.

Well i dont know what my Nm is in torque but im running a shrimp stage 2 on a standard CR clutch with no issues, so you should be fine with a manual, cant comment on a DSG though

Marty, Nath,

Let me know if you're going to get one and I may have to invest too if a deal can be had ;)

NO WORRIES.
i may get up there this friday for a look-see. fingers crossed.
i'd try these out and see how i feel.

the more i think about it (knowing the remapped edition 30 gti boys run circa 300lbs / 400 Nm) i reckon id be ok so long as i wasnt knacking it around all the time...which i dont...

You'll get an power increase from a tuning box, but never anywhere near the overall result of a proper dyno remap.

So many many parameters are adjusted to ensure the car leaves as it should have come from the factory.

Plus, DPF + Tuning box =

P-torque
in my case im not looking for max figures becasue i dont want to break my DSG box. so a tuning box may suit my car better....possibly.
as for dpf, hopefully i'll not have probs with it being cr170 and doing 20 mile trip to/from work every day

what figures can you offer me? bhp/Nm/£££.........remember i dont want monster torque as the torque is already 350Nm from the factory
