At the minute I have these foul 21 spoke 16" seat rims, which I believe they are 7j.

I'm looking at a set of 5 spoke wheels which are 6.5j 5x100 16" will these fit and be ok or are they not wide enough?

They'll have more clearance than standard but I think you'll find that the wider ones do look nicer, a bit more aggressive, better stance. I'm currntly running 15's with 6.5j but would like to get some at 7j. Check the offset, the E number i.e. E37, E45 etc, that's the important one, you can even it out with spacers if they sit to far in and also make sure the centre bore is big enough, to small and you can use spigot rings, to small and it's an engineering job.:)

Yeh but to say they're dangerous is overkill, rally cars use narrow wheels for some stages, I use 6.5j and drive like a nutter at times without problem, I still think you're wrong about that, I think they're perfectly safe, tyres make more of a difference than narrow tyres. My mates golf VR6 was running 6.5j and it was seriously good at handling, so was his corrado 16v and I think his latest car a golf gt tdi is the same.

@iSamKing Ask some of the performance guys and see what they say.:)

A seat leon is not a rally car, or a mk3 golf. Not to mention your argument is totally flawed on many other levels. I stand by what I said, putting narrower wheels on a seat Leon is borderline dangerous.

Now you're flawed, after saying the 6.5 is to narrow for a performance car then saying rally cars and VR6's don't count, get real man. As said too they're only .5 inch narrower not 2inches that's like saying the leon comes with 8.5 inch wide wheels as standard. Many performance hatches came with 6.5j wheels as standard and it's only because of styling that they've changed, vw as well as seat seen what younger people were doing to their cars and so started releasing sportier looking hatches with wider wheels etc as standard but on another note I perfectly understand the concept of grip and know that on a track the width can make the difference between winning and losing but on iSamKing's car I doubt it would be in the slightest bit noticable especially with some uniroyal rainsports wrapped around them.:)

Well I think you'll need 7j to fit 205's, they're a bit wide for the 6.5's, 195's about the limit for them.:)

I am not even going to read all of this. I fail the desire to argue with someone who doesn't realise that 0.5 inches on each corner adds up to 2 inches. I'm right and you know I'm right. It's obvious that I'm right, you are just trying to justify having 6.5j wheels. It's cute.

Forget the safety argument and all the rest. Will the insurance company be happy that you have put on narrower wheels and tires than standard?

How can you say that when such cars as the VR6 come with 6.5j as standard? They're not exactly slow! It's nothing to do with me having narrower wheels, if I had the spare money I'd have 7j on my car because it looks better. What I am saying is that you're wrong to say that 6.5j is bordering on dangerous on a sporty hatch car, that's ridiculous and totally untrue, I don't remember anyone asking about fitting 6.5j wheels to some 600bhp super hatch, we're talking about a Mk1 leon ffs!

I appreciate where you're coming from but I feel you're wrong in this particular situation is all.:)
