EBC brakes, why so good?

I understand why grooved, dimpled, drilled brakes work but why are plain brakes such as EBC brakes better than OEM's ?

Probably the type of material, like with tyres, some grip fantastic and some are crap and I would think it's the same with brake pads. I'm on standard brakes but I look after them and my car stops really quick, I got a fair suprise.

Because most of the time people fit them, they fit them along with new uprated pads, So they think that the disks have made their brakes better.

Also when disks get fitted, the ones they're replacing are so far beyond useful that there is a huge improvement in braking with the new disks. It's a bit like suspension as well, you don't realise how tired the old stuff is until you replace it.

Having said that, Halfords disks seem to have a totally unique manufacturing technology that makes their disks more suitable for capping milk bottles than stopping a car. So there is something in the manufacturer of disks.

standard lc/lcr discs peform the same...... try it.

Its due more to harsher pad material and comparing them to knackered old stuff than discs.

Seems like that can't be right because then no-one would buy uprated discs !

Track use is where you want the uprated brakes so you can avoid fade for longer, on the road the standard Cupra R discs are more than enough so it's really only for style if you want to uprate them.

I'm eyeing some EBC's at the moment, they retail for £155 but a lad on another site is selling his 323mm's unused as he bought them for a car he doesn't own anymore. He's open to offers atm. They are completely plain, so it's not a style issue, I just thought I'd get something better than standard seeing as I have to change them soon anyway.

Pretty much that-the pads are much more abrasive and as a result wear the discs quicker too.
Uprated discs allow them to cool faster and gases to escape better.Unless you are getting brake fade then not really needed for the road.

one EBC does not make a plain brake pad green, red, or yellow is their mix green being as close to oem but is still an upgrade log wear less brake dust still more then the red/yellow as it has less ceramic in its composition...... oem brake pads may not have any of that definitely

they're not..
they're equivalent.... and in the case of 323x28, significantly cheaper than brembos are. (OE)

combine them with a good pad and its overall "better"

Incorrect, EBC black stuff are there equivalent to OE pads
