Mine has done it for the last 15k.. Unfortunately I think it is a characteristic of the gear box..
Try putting it in manual and holding it in 3rd or 4th over bumps it tends not to do it.

Im on my second gear box. Was quiet after the change back in January rattles again now. Learning to live with it. Seems at its worst when the gear box is not under load. Qudible clunks when changing up and down though.

I wouldn't be going to watchdog about just the dsg I would be having a word about all the engine issues and missfire problems

I'll give it a go, have to admit it doesn't bother me too much, usually got a grin on my face when I'm in it !!

My cupras just clocked 27k and the dsg has never put a foot wrong it clunks a little when going in and out of d but over bumps etc its no worse than all the squeaks and rattles the car has developed and i agree with mardon the engine is a biggers issue imo the dsg is just seak not knowing how to maintain our cars or diagnose problems.

Do it in 2nd then..

Live with it.. Nothing you can do.

The engine is the bigger issue.

Engine is a bigger issue?

What problems have people been having?

Mine has just been the DSG bad rattle so far

Journalist has spoken with SEAT. Their answer to him was pretty much the same as to the rest of us. Tuff get on with it!

what else did the jerno say?

SEAT said that the box fitted to our cars is a very compact unit and thats the reason why things knock into each other causing the noise

An absolute joke

As an engineer myself by trade I have never heard such rubbish

Pieces of metal clattering together within a gearbox will not and shall never ever be descibred as normal. Other than when the VW group wanting to avoid admitting there is an issue.

If I had engineers working my company and they came out with such rubbish they wouldnt be in a job the following day!

What's the next step then? Journalist has given up??

It's a dry DSG box so it will make a noise, just like the engine makes a noise (other than the sound of exploding fuel). The wet-DSG boxes don't rattle because they're cased in oil. I reckon tbh the dry-DSG rattle is just following the law of unintended outcomes. by removing the oil you reduce the drag and friction losses caused by the DSG box resulting in more economy, but obviously the noise increase is an oversight.

The 10yr warranty is for the wet boxes which have adifferent issue to the dry boxes.

Yeah he has said there is nothing more he can do

Iv tried e-mailing Watchdog but to honest unless a lot of people do it I dont think we will get anywhere

To be honest I think im just gonna get shut of mine and go back to what iv always had and never had any problems. Buy Japanese, Civic Type R possibly

Dealership has offered me a Leon FR as a replacement for my Boc

Slightly newer less mileage think it was a demo

Not sure what to do
