Hey guys and dolls!

Ive just got myself a leon 20vt and im looking to play with the power and was wondering if anyone had some helpful pointers or tips to what i should need/do before going to get a re-map....any help would be grand :)

I asked this a couple of months back and the answer I got was, search. Have a looking in the readers rides spend a bit of time researching and you'll come up with your own answer that suit you and you cars. Sounds a cop out but...

Jesus. What's the point in having a forum to chat about things if all you get as a reply is told to search.

If the same questions annoy you then don't post it's really that simple.

Surely it would be better to search and have a read of a few RR to get an idea of what various people have done then ask about certain mods than asking what they should do/not do before a remap, esp when the question has been asked a lot lately.

Research then ask question, allows the best use of any forum otherwise you get the same questions and answers being posted all the time

I'd rather discussed the benefits of a certain way to do something then tell them what should or shouldn't be done. This way they can get the best out of there car for their needs

I was not having a go just offering some advise and sharing my opinion is that not what a forum is for? If my answer annoyed you sorry it was not meant to. However in the future maybe take you own advise?

it all depends on your budget, do your best to determin exactly what you want/are able to spend, stage 1 is a simple remap, no other mods are needed, (although you may want an upgraded dump valve to handle the extra boost) this will get you between 205 - 215bhp maybe a touch more, the car will feel much more lively, stage 2 is another remap option but you need a turbo back exhaust £700+ with decat or 1000 ish with sports cat, decat will flow better but will bring up an engine light,( search how to get rid of this), a sports cat should pass MOT and no lights, a panel or open air filter, and a front mount intercooler, the stage 2 remap requests more boost than stage 1 so these parts ARE needed to help flow the gases to and from the engine and the help it run cool, if the car gets hot you will only lose power!! this will get you upto or around 230-240 bhp, however the power range is also better because of the easier breathing and cooling, so it isnt just 20bhp more, anything more is big turbo and thats a whole new game, im not fantastic with modding cars but hope this helps a bit, do try using the search it is handy, this sites been going a while there is loads of info, daz

Thanks daz thats helped me alot!!
ive got a forge dump valve on there at the moment so thats all sorted and im debating to buy a panel or induction kit as ive been told that the standard air box is good up to 300bhp, only real difference between the two is the louder sound i suppose.

well i think its time for a stage one map then :D

thing is mate your do stage 1 and eventually want stage 2,its a slippery slope lol, if you do think your eventually go stage 2 then wait and just do that, but do the map last, by the way, you dont need a stage 1 remap to then upgrade to stage 2, you can go straight to stage 2 after you get the supporting mods, if you see what i mean, maybe try a local meet first im sure someone will have a lc there and take you for a burn lol

Thank you sir!

Had read many progress blogs. Couldn't figure out if stage 2 was a new turbo or not. My plans are to chuck a stage1 map on it. Find myself an intercooler, exhaust and a few other bits then aim for stage 2.

No stage 2 sports cat/de cat and back box, FMIC and the map. Open cone filters do flow alot better than the standard air box. Badger5 do the filters at a good price have a look in the trading area.

ive heard a lot about these badger5 things....is there a particular make to get?? or is it a budget preference??
