I don't know the full ins and outs of these diffs, can I just ask what the FZQ, LC and GB are? Sorry to be a noob. Thanks for listing the prices though dude.

My mate who's local to me has a Wavetrac on his stage 2 LCR and is pretty :-o with the difference in the cars cornering ability now!

I wonder if AmD were the one's to fit it that it'll come with a lifetime warranty then? They are sellers of Quaife setups, but I may call them today to ask about Wavetracs.

It's a big purchase so it'd be nice to know everything now so I know exactly what work gets done and what to expect from the car after. I've never tracked it and it needs ARBs and complete bush overhaul, plus brakes before I can think of it. But it sounds like I may be tempted once a diff goes in.

How would you describe the change from stock to diff in terms of cornering ability and what to expect and look out for?

They sound like the icing on the cake..
Sorry I was a bit drunk when I typed the initial reply.

The LCR OEM Gear Box is an 6 speed 02M FML.
The LC (Leon Cupra) OEM GB is 6 speed 02M FZQ.

The Final drive is a different size giving you different gearing ratios.
I think I have gotten better traction doing this as the gear box sorts out some of the wheel spin.

My car is pretty far from OEM spec now.
I had stiffer wishbone bushes, stiffer Dog Bone Mount bushes, 23mm Front ARB and 28mm Rear ARB, S3 front upper strutt brace and KWV3 coilovers.
So as you can expect the handling on the car was very good compared to the OEM set up.
I was still on an OEM map and the traction with Toyo R888 tyres was very very good.

Before I had the diff fitted I had never experienced a FWD car with a LSD so I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. After speaking to people it was described a a night and day transformation.

I picked up a second hand gear box for a VERY good price. This way I didn't have to be without the car for any length of time. This was sent down to Stealth racing on the previso that what ever needed to be done to the box to make it like new, do it.

With the diff in and my car on a ramp I swapped out the gear box.

The first drive with this in I still had my winter tyres on but even with them on the speed you could carry through the corners and how quickly you could get on the power was truely amazing.

I have since been stage 2 mapped and have been on the track a few times and this is truely night and day to the OEM traction.

If you enjoy driving your car hard, know your cars limitations and can currently throw your car about a bit you will massively notice the difference.
It's an out and out handling mod and a hugely welcome addition to any FWD motor. Once you have one fitted you will never have a performance FWD car without one.

But don't make the mistake of thinking it will drastically change the amount of wheel spin you get with a stage 2 mapped car. The only ways to tame one of these is mapping and having an educated right foot.

Hope this helps

Is your map a custom one Willie? Your car must handle ON RAILS! Would love to see it, but it's quite a trek upto Scotland from here!

I drove a Renaultsport Megane around Brands Hatch and had that on the ragged edge and the corner speed was immense, LSD comes as standard.. Was very impressed the way I could get the power down early and how smooth it was in delivery too!

Which wishbone bushes have you got, are they Powerflex? I really need to get my car wired underneath now. I think the full Superpro bushkit will be a good start, then add a couple of ARBs and some new rubber.

I run Toyo's on an old Clio I used to have and the grip levels were superb. I know they say Toyo's wear quicker, but I do less miles now as it's a weekend car so I don't think I'll be too fussed. Would you recommend these tyres over Goodyear Eagle Asymetrics?

Cheers for the info and advice mate.

Fitted my new LED sidelights from Ultraled's on Saturday and I'm really impressed with them.

These tolerate the correct voltage the car runs at so my friend informed me. So the ebay one's have been ditched after one died on me.

These are alot brighter than the ebay LED's, and are a bit less blue I noticed.

Anyway, here's a few pics I took earlier:

And a completely unrelated sidelight pic

Happy with the car right now. Just need to get the car booked in at AmD to have the knock sensor replaced soon, and then think about the full Superpro bush kit for her to be treated to.

For anyone wanting more info on the Superpro bush kit. See this link, 3rd offer down - http://www.amdessex.com/special.offers.cfm

I've got a custom map, yeah.

I used R888's even on the snow and ice this year, LOL.
The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's will take some beating for all round tyre but for out and out handling the R888's are very difficult to top.

Either Powerflex or Superflex are good. I know Powerflex went up in smoke this year so dunno if their back up and running yet.

Haha, snow and ice + Toyo's = you're mad!

All round is good, but the Toyo's are cheaper IIRC..

I'll be getting the Superpro kit, and I really can't wait. I know it's a bit sad to get excited over bushes, but these really need doing and I know the car will feel much better for it, and be future proof for aslong as I keep her once it's done. :)

I can confirm that - only had a quick spin with Willie but it felt like a Scalextric car, it clung to the road that much.

Mmm I'm sure it does matey! The underpinnings on that car must be wired. Spec is high!

New rims!

Well, tonight was a pleasant surprise to say the least!

Got a call on the way to the gym earlier and turns out I was made an offer I just couldn't refuse, so said yes on the spot!

My standard wheels + tyres will be going, and replaced by a new set (all 5) which have been refurbed already to a HIGH standard. They are off someone's car on here, one of the best MK1's to have ever graced the forum IMO!! A true SCN legend! :D

They also come with some very decent Toyo T1-R tyres!

Nice update incoming.. only days away :funk:
