The benefits of changing your fuel filter 20vt

Ever since I changed my fuel filter, my mpg has gone from around 26- 28 mpg to mid 30s. Anyone else experienced this too? Can't be coincidence surely?

ive changed them on a lc and an lcr and seen no difference in mpg at all.

i guess it could make a difference but im stuggling to think of something specific.
who knows.. maybe the old was was leaking a tiny amount. not uncommon

I've changed my filter and had no difference to mpg. To hit anywhere near 30mpg would b like winning the lottery for me.

Kwik fit wont change fuel filters on petrol engines, or do any fuel tank/line work so cant have been them.

Sadly it is one of those things that doesn't seem to be considered during a normal service, and most mark one Leon's should have had at least one change by now, if not two or three. I didn't notice an increase in MPG when I replaced my Toledo one, but it did seem a bit smoother.

I'll be changing mine along with the fuel pump in a few days so I'll see if it makes any difference too.

Exactly, it's not even a major expense! it can be a bit fiddly if you don't know how the fuel lines operate, and when I replaced mine the strap broke so I had to improvise, but apart from that there is no reason not to.

it would get down if asked tho! and at 60000 km peugeot change fuel filter!

also, each time its due for a service, different things may get checked that wasnt checked at the last one or so, all depending on how many miles its done.

its on the invoice too! anyway thats beside the point!

if i do a service i would do this, id also do the pollen filter too whilst im at it.

on petrol vag cars, they are not service items, they dont get changed unless customer requests

the fuel filter is just infront of the drivers side REAR arch
