Chris looks sweet pal...how did the vinyling go...got it back yesterday cheers pal....the bulbs are awesome first mpd i do..check my rr and check the ones ive put in mine
Cheers mate, vinyling went okay, I took the front badge off to do it which was probably a bad idea as it was a pain in the arse to get it to fit back in the grille. I think you're best off not taking the grille out if you're doing the front badge.

I was going to fit a HID kit but have just gone for these bulbs for now, I still might do a HID kit one day.

Blanco how do you remove the dials to change the insert?
- disconnect battery
- steering wheel + airbag off
- undo the torx screws underneath the top edge of the dash
- undo some more torx screws (you'll be able to see them by this point)
- disconnect plug on back of cluster
- remove gauge needles etc as required to change the insert

it's a pain in the arse!
Quick question Chris, im converting to twin headlights and was wondering is it a bumper off job to swap the lamps or can you do it with the bumper still on?
Bumper off :(

Well I'm currently sat approx 4,500 miles away from my car, which is tucked up for the winter in the garage at home. The car is in the trusty hands of my dad who has even promised to detail it over the coming weeks.

So no updates from here really. Not for a year or so.

Florida Institute of Technology?

sounds interesting. best of luck with it man, hope it goes well for you :) il raid your car for parts while you're gone ;):D
Cheers for the kind words mate.

I logged into eBay last night, looks like my dad has ordered a set of SEAT Sport number plate surrounds that I was watching :D he must be missing me

Well I said the thread would go on hold... but it seems there is a 2012 update after all :)

Dad got bored of the timing chain kit I had bought (and not got round to fitting) cluttering up his garage so he decided to fit it

Long story short, turned into a horrible job, finding the G28 speed sensor (to fit the crank locking tool into) was apparently a nightmare.

Lots of the engine was in bits, kind of glad I never attempted it now, I'd have been out of my depth for certain.

Also he found the brake servo hose was beginning to perish/split (common problem apparently) and so a new, modified part is fitted.

All running well now and hopefully my 1.2 won't fall foul of the timing chain failure that others have before.

Car went in for its MOT earlier in the week.

Failed again. MOTs are pedantic these days, failed on sidelight bulbs (they are LEDs) and a headlight bulb which apparently had a manufacturing defect that meant the beam pattern was a shambles and they couldn't adjust it enough. The MOT was pretty much out so thankfully they just changed the bulbs and left them in the car. Rather that than fail it and leave it.

The headlight bulbs were the Ultra Power Bulbs 5000k type, the original seller has sent out a replacement pair due to the defect.

Mum is still using the car as her's is garaged having some DIY work done by dad.

Love what you've done with the car. I've a 1.2 myself and was debating either selling it for a 1.9tdi or modifying it slightly.

Any updates at all?
