Yeah 180 6sp. But id imagine heavier as they got boot etc! Would of thought stage one would see 220bhp.

very rarely you'll see past 210 on stage 1 with stock hardware , you need turboback , fmic and good induction system and good map to achive 220-230 figures with is around 700-1000 realistically if done properly

Ah i see. Other options i looked at are Audi a4 estate's 180tdi quattro - but theyre again very expensive for what they are IMO. Leons just seem pretty good value - what sort of money should i be looking to spend on a LCR?

as said depends on your budget but there are really good example on now foe around 3500-4k mark i paid 2800 for mine with 90k fsh , 12 month mot and 6 months tax , cambelt and pump been done recently also so all smiles here

Really? 3500 would see a good LCR? Some people are advertising 4500 - 5000+. Whats with that? Id want a bog standard one so i can do what i want to it. Id only lower it and give a 007p miltek some sort of induction and a remap. More the torque figures from a stage 1 than big BHP.

and the ones that advertise at that price will be there for a long while , i've seen some that been on there for over 4 months so good luck to them i'm realist times are ghard no one wants to spend big money on gas guzzlers which are driving down the prices

You'd be surpised mate. I paid 3250 for mine last year needing a service, cambelt, antiroll bar, two tyres and discs and pads all round while they were around the 4500-5000 mark. Now, I'd be lucky to see £3800 for it if I sold it today.

Not that I'm selling!

Did try and sell earlier this year with no success! (had money worries)

So glad she didn't go though! I love my LCR!

The price the LCR is now you'd be daft getting a bog standard one mate. Theres a few on PH just now going for around the £3.5k mark.

Why would i be daft getting a standard one?

Also i suppose your right - noone wants to spend money at the moment so cars are not worth as much.

Is there any sort of mileage i should be looking for? I do around 20 - 40 miles a day so not too much. Would 3.5k see me something with 60 - 70k? Lots of people seem to mark them up at a high price but would prob take a little hit on their cars to sell them.

i agree and disagree with the above comments, late summer i got a cupra, i choose that over a cupra due to one major factor, the price, i looked for quite sometime, and there is easily £1500 in difference in coast, let alone the hike for insurance,

i personally think that the cupra r interior is lame, a few splodges of red plastic dotted around, and cloth seats! i have full heated electric black leathers in mine, a damn sight better

obviously you get the brembo brakes on the 'r' but my 312mm setup is more than ample for stopping power,

powerwise, yes you get more from the standard motor, but as previously said, you can alsways get a remap to gain 30bhp or so.

keep your eyes peeled for well specked cupra's about, as previously said, i have full heated leathers, folding mirror's, headlamp washers, auto wipers, cruise control, sunroof ect.

Guess its down to personal preference at the end of the day. I bought my LCR for speed and knew I would have regretted getting the cheaper cupra if I had. I'm glad I stumped up the extra cash.

LCR seats hold you better than the leather Cupra one's imo, but then I guess it's how you drive and what you want from the car..

Brembo setup is £500 alone 2nd hand, the extra power, bigger turbo and better bumpers more than make up for the difference in price. LCR's are too cheap now not choose over a Cupra.

Tom, ive just read through your whole progress blog! What a car! It sounds amazing! Is the sound just due to the 007p and the Open Cone?.

Are the Brembo's worth it? Are they 2 Pots?

Finally is the Cupra R much worse on fuel than the Cupra?

i can say i noticed much differece in fuel over lc round town i'm averaging 25-27 mpg ( anually caluted not using the trip which says i'm down 31) on the motoway went to london and back averaged 36 mpg which aint to bad to be fair

To be honest im also looking at the MK1 TT's but id imagine the 225 quattro would rape me in fuel. Theyre pretty cheap aswell.
