Is it safe?

Just got out of the car and noticed the distance between balance weights and calliper, to say its close is an understatement...
I thought 15" wheels would be ok as the spare is a 15"

Yeeesh Doesn't look right to me at all.....!! But I'm sure someone will have a more qualified opinion!

Good on you for putting winter tyres on though :)

The road holding/handling certainly leave a lot to be desired with these on tbh. You just have to bear that in mind when out and about. Still no snow tho.

as long as there's no contact it'll be fine, when i had 15's on last winter there was only a few mm between the rim and the caliper but, a few mm is all thats needed

The first thing I would ask myself is why are the weights there and not further back in the rim? Just don't seem right to me.

Never thought of that, perhaps they are buckled to feck ha ha. Was done by a local independant fitting place, that also sell nice and cheap part worn tyres as well... Although these were not part worn..

Agreed, the weights on mine are pretty much central on the wheel, and aren't even visible from the front.

Although there are some balancing machines that balance left and right as well as circumference, and where they are is the closest you can get to the front of the wheel.

Too close. Put that rim on the back & put a less weighted rim on the front.

Those weights look like they're coming off soon anyway

If there not touching it should be fine as the distance between the wheel and the caliper wont change whilst driving ;) but might be a good idea to do what mork has said due to it looking like its about to come off and who knows where it will go.. Get the re-balance in a different place.

As you may remember SLY I have the same rims as you & they put the weights on the outer edge of the rims - not so nice to look at but gives clearance to calipers, and inner weights are further back on the rim.
ask the fitters to reweight to outer edge if not happy with them & show them why - hopefully they wont charge you

All 4 seem to have the similar amounts of weights and in the same edge of the wheel, there is also weights on the rearmost edge as well.. inner and outer edges of the wheel.

I may go back and ask em to look at it and see what they say. They'll prob say its fine ha ha

This is the clearence on mine, I have now changed the tyres to GoodYear Ultragrip 8, Which SEAT fitted all four tyres for £19.80.

As long as you don't go over any big pot holes you should be fine!

Fair play to you for putting these on for the winter mate! Think my car will sit lonely for a while if the snow starts to fall! the salt's making my car dirty within 10 mins of leaving my house! Luckily one of my mates owns a car wash so i get free washes whenever! :D Cant stand a dirty car any time of the year :(
